| | Alpha | ProPlan Chicken & Rice Formula change Just a heads up to those of you who feed the regular Proplan Chicken & rice or the lamb & rice food.
There is a "renovated" formula coming out this fall for both of these foods (that will replace the old formulas). The new formulations are called "Shredded Blends" and will have 15% tender shredded pieces, the remaining 85% will be the same kibble.
They do not have info on the proplan website yet and I don't have an ingredient list yet to see what's different. Called purina and they will send me info when it's available.
Again this is for the regular proplan, not the proplan selects. They say that dogs "overwhelmingly prefer the taste of the new shredded formula over the original". Hopefully, the dogs (my own are on this) will continue to do as well. |

| So it's got soft stuff in it? The kind of stuff that's not good for doggie teeth?
Man, can't they leave well enough alone? The testimonials on this board alone should tell them that they're doing something right...why mess with it? |

| | Alpha | For what it's worth, I don't think it's changing much. And as far as the soft stuff affecting the teeth - most dogs hardly chew their food anyway. It will still be primarily kibble. |

| Marketing marketing marketing - new and improved - bigger better faster ............................................
they are all out for increased market share. I'll bet someone did a study on consumer response to "shredded and Tender"
doesn't shredded sound like something natural freshly torn up and added to the food. Bet it comes out of an extruder.

| For those of you who use the Pro Plan Chicken or Lamb, are you going to stay with it? I am using the Pro Plan for Sensitive Skin/Stomachs, and am very happy with the results. I hope they don't change that formula, since it works well for all three of my dog's, and they LOVE it. I will still give it a try if they change it I guess, or I may try the Selects with Salmon. |
