| One moody, itchy doberman.... kane is one itchy dog right now. hes also very uncomfortable and moody.hes on fish oil, vitamin e, pet tabs brand pet vitamin, and glyco-flex.his coat is taking a really long time to grow in,this season and hes unbarably itchy. you barely touch him any where and his itchy-scratchy goes off. i touch him anywhere and he shudders and kicks his foot like its horrably itchy. his coat is thin on his backside, but growing in,and isnt ''missing''. its sparce like when he grows his coat in,but i have NEVER seen him so miserably itchy.hes does not really have a rash, but a very few acne-like pimples on his backend.
what i do know......
its not fleas, because i thought,ok itchy dog.......... check..nope no uggy buggys.plus hes on preventative.
hes on coat supplements? are they not enuff?
im going to check his yearly thyroid, next month. wich has been normal everytime.any other things i should check?
does anyone have ideas for my poor itchy doberman?

| his ears are clean clear and pink,no discharge,no odour,no wax and no canker. normal ears. he had ear issues about 3 months ago, its cleared up though. he had gotten water in his ears from swimming, and got a very mild ear infection.there is no current signs of any ear problems.
could this be thyriod issues starting? hes been moody, but i though he was just uncomfortable.(gets this way sometimes so its not overly unusual for kane)

| Oh, I'm sorry for Kane. Have you tried 3V capsules? They are a strong dose of fish oil and Vitamin E, D, & A all in one tablet. They have helped my red girl's coat and skin issues. Mine are all also eating Pro Plan for sensitive skin and doing great on it. One other thing I thought about is flea/tick preventives. I can't use Frontline on our boy because he gets VERY itchy. We now use Advantix, and he's not allergic to it like he is Frontline. He never got moody on it though, but every time we touched him he would lie down and scratch like CRAZY. Anyway, keep us posted. |

| Do an ELISA test to check for what he's really allergic to.

| You might consider giving the K9 Show Stopper a try. K9 Show Stopper by Animal Naturals I started using one of their other products K9 Super Fuel a few months ago and was very pleased with the product. Several members of my training club, including our training director, were using the Show Stopper and I couldn't believe the difference it made in one young GSD dog, it literally turned his dull coat to super shiny in weeks.
A mom and pop pet store in my area carries both products. After researching the Show Stopper, I put Rex on it last week, granted Rex had an excellent shiny coat with no issues to begin with, but after only one week his coat is so much softer. The only downside to the product is it's fairly pricey and for a Doberman you will need a 4 pound bucket to give it a chance of working. I haven't sat down and figured out how long the 4 pound bucket will last yet. But right now I'm really sold on the product.

*EDIT - Does he have any of these other symptoms? Genetics Thyroid

*EDIT - Does he have any of these other symptoms? Genetics Thyroid | id say a few........but i cant say for certain............
hungry (but hes been alot more active.)
hair loss on back and butt-thats a yes.(but its growing in,its shed season)
moody-well hes generally moody, but hes been a bit more ''grumbly'' but its also colder at night and hes been more active.hes got joint pain.
no staring spells. but a tad bit more edgy-yes. but the whole house would like to kill the idiot with the f-ing air horn at 3 am too.(new neighbor torment fad-not sure whos doing it) so were all a bit pissy from no sleep.
acne like pimples-has a few.
as i cant rule it out as either, abnormal,or as a usual cause. better safe than sorry,im going to reschedule his thyroid workup at a sooner date to make sure.i dont want him to wait until the end of the month. plus his nails need dremmeled anyways.ill let you know how his testing goes.its allways been normal before, but i test it once a year as precaution.
