| Attn: RAW FEEDERS I am trying to incorporate a large variety of meats into my dogs diets. What exotics do you guys feed? I am wanting to try ostrich, goat, sheep, and other foods.
Right now I am rotating beef, tripe, turkey, chicken, lamb, rabbit, duck, buffalo, salmon, mackeral, sardines, etc.
Do your Dobes have any problems with any of the meats listed? Just want to make sure my dogs are getting proper nutrition. |

| If you can get ostrich, eat it yourself, its good, taste like teriyaki -marinated chicken. Eating meat will never be the same after eating in Africa.
Oh yeah, for your dog, I'd say give them a try they taste alright enough for humans to eat I am sure dogs will like them, I believe Ostrich is a good source of Iron, its either that or camel |

Do your Dobes have any problems with any of the meats listed? Just want to make sure my dogs are getting proper nutrition. | My dogs regularly eat chicken, duck, beef, pork, rabbit, lamb and fish (salmon, mackeral), and ostrich. Sheep is lamb, by the way, lambs are baby sheep. Buffalo is not regularly affordable for me in the amount that I would need to feed it, neither is emu or elk, but they have had that rarely. The goat bones are never appropriately sized and it tends to be very fatty whenever I have obtained them, which my dogs do not particularly like, but the cats ADORE so I feed the goat bones I have to them instead I have venison in the freezer (a large amount, in fact), but the bones were not meaty enough so I feed those to the cats as well mostly, or Berlin only.
There is no such thing as "proper nutrition" - that depends on what you believe.
I get most of my food from either the foodstore or through private sources/my co-op/private farmers. Bravo, Oma's etc are ok sources, and I've used them before, but they aren't affordable for me in the bulk I need to feed it, not as a regular source for everything, and they simply don't have the raw meaty bones I seek. I want to feed everything as whole and as raw as possible - if I could get everything in it's natural form, I would!!! One day I hope to be able to purchase whole sheep, sides of beef, etc and just feed those...

| I have fed ostrich and goat to lexx, the ostrich neck bones are HUGE and he has some issues with them, but he liked the meat and didn't have any digestion issues. Goat he is a huge fan of when I can get it...

| | Alpha | before you buy untried meats in bulk test that your dog likes them first.
What you're feeding already is perfect, I'm assuming you feed eggs as well...

| I feed HPPI Beef Complete most of the time. I'll give chicken, fish, turkey necks, beef tripe, and buffalo too. Only issue I've had is that Adriel is sensitive to the buffalo. Still warming up to the RMBs, the crunch sickens me, but I'm getting better.
Anyways, this particular pre-made brand works well for my situation (2 dobes and 3 doxies on raw). Rather than stores, they have private distributors.
I've fed NV and Primal, but this food just seems to "click" with my dogs. I think part of it is that HPP isn't as heavy on veggies and fruits. Here's a link if anyone's interested: Healthy Pet Products
BTW, Kroger has 20oz Perdue Chicken Gizzards and Hearts for $1.19. Yummy snacks, hehe. The dogs go bonkers for them. I've also found Buffalo on sale in convenient 1lb packages for $3.49.

| I feed Natures vatiety in the am ~ right now he's eating rabbit, beef & venison. He usually gets chicken or turkey in the evenings. He loves fish - so far he's not picky. He hasn't refused anything. Good puppy I get my turkey form Spouts. Chicken/fish from grocery store.

| Jada loves gizzards and beef heart. We feed her chicken, lamb, beef, pork and mackeral. She has also had venison (when we can get it) and if I think that we even splurged one time and got her some buffalo.
