I have to keep him coralled in the house again, which sucks since we don't have AC and it gets hot. So I'm thinking window AC in one room and he stays in there. Lots of things like kong and toys that stimulate him mentally?
I am more than open to suggestions... |

| Yes, he definitely is going to need to stay indoors in a crate. If Athena goes nuts, she can be loose in the room with him or crated next to him to keep him company.
I would imagine you are going to have to keep him crated when you are not home for quite a while, if not forever. That joint will be weaker for a period of time and any crazy shenanigans will re injure it. If he and Athena wrestle too much he could also get hurt again before he's 100%. It's going to be tough to keep them separated.....maybe have him on lead and her off lead for little potty breaks and strolls when he is able to do that? Does she body slam? Mine play so rough I have to do total separate potty breaks, walks etc if one is laid up. |

| ellenm - she body slams. That is where I am stumped. I know I will have to figure it out, and I am going to ask everyone in that vet's office how they suggest I keep them calm!
I can't imagine keeping him crated when I'm not home forever, that just seems so awful! But I will do whatever I have to keep them healthy.
The surgeon said that they will re-xray after a couple weeks and that he expects them to be able to play together again just fine when he is all healed...

| I just saw this thread for the first time - hope the little guy is doing well.
He will need a lot of crate rest, and you might want to invest in a 4' high expercise pen for him - it would give him more room and you could put it outside for some outside time without being with your other dog. I would definitely keep him inside and crated from now on. Accidents can happen as we all know. I don't leave my dogs alone together - only one has the run of the house when I am gone ..... the others are crated.

| | Alpha | Sounds like you have a caring dr/surgeon. Glad to hear Apollo successfully underwent surgery and is on the road to recovery.
