The surgeon called me at 5:15 this morning, just like the office staff said he would, so that made me fell better. The surgeon, Dr. B, said that he can't be sure if the bone is broken clean through or just part of the way. He said he agrees that the surgery is the best way to go to insure a healthy future for Apollo. He also said that he will need another surgery to remove the pins in a few weeks. Not what I wanted to hear, but we'll make it through.
At 5:15 the surgeon said they were prepping Apollo for surgery and that he would go in sometime between 6:00 and 7:30. So he is probably already being operated on.
I didn't go back to sleep after the call, so I've just been sitting here with Athena, praying for the pup and for the surgeon, so that he has a smooth surgery.
I am headed in to work soon, I will update again after I hear that he is out of surgery!
Thanks again for everything, DT was a great outlet for my nervous energy last night. | Poor boy. That is powerful stuff. Hope Apollo recoveries soon.

| I have an update, and it's good! The surgeon called me about 45 minutes ago. Apollo is out of surgery and recovering comfortably. He has 3 pins in his little puppy arm and will need another surgery to remove those later.
The surgeon reassured me that it was a freak thing, which I really needed to hear, and told me that I have a very cute puppy. Apparently he's working his puppy charm on all the staff there.
If he continues to do well he will be coming home tomorrow. The surgeon said that the worst part will be keeping him calm and quiet for the recovery. He said 2 weeks of NO playing at all, then they'll xray and see how the healing is going and progress from there.
A side note - the surgeon woke me up this morning at 5:15, and I sounded like hell. When I talked to him this time he laughed and said that I sounded much better. He also kept referring to Apollo as "your kid" which made me feel like he really understood how hard this was on us. He told me that he would take good care of him and he did.
Thanks again for all the well wishes, prayers and thoughts, it's an unbelievable feeling when people I don't even know are rallying for me and my loved ones. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
I'll get some "frankenpuppy" pics up when I get him home so y'all can see him! |

| Sorry, I didn't post earlier, but I just got on the computer. I am happy to hear your boy is doing so much better and seems to be in very capable, caring hands. Sending much love and best wishes for his recovery. How is your girl doing without her little brother? Please do post some "frankenpuppy" photos when you get an opportunity as you will have your hands full trying to keep him from playing. |

I am sure she was involved in whatever happened to him, they play all day long, so I just hope she doesn't think she hurt him or we took him away from her.
Last night she wouldn't stop sniffing my pants that I wore to take him to the hospital. It was really sad and didn't make it any easier on me!

I am so sorry for all the suckage. The worst part, the waiting and wondering is over now.
As for venting, I see you've already been warned about the keeping him quiet thing--and I suspect you'll quite quickly need to be on here venting and asking for ideas on how to keep that boy from playing too hard, too soon!
Gotta love the Dobe spirit!

| Wow, just saw this news! Glad he already had surgery and the news sounds good. It will be hard to keep him quiet, but gosh he will really need to rest and take it easy.
Give him and Athena a hug from all us DT'ers. |
