How about this article? It seems to reinforce the premise of the 1st link, i.e. neutering not necessary, spaying may be beneficial.

Well, I can tell you the author is reputable - one of the foremost canine theriogenologists (reproductive specialists) in the country - I've personally met her and think very highly of her training/intelligence/practice.

I think she very succinctly summed up the info - I'm definitely putting this in Tucker's chart for the next time that someone asks why he isn't neutered yet...

*Edit* Great find, by the way!

Hi, my 2 cents...my breeder of my soon to be Doberboy has said she recommends the neutering at over 12 to 14 months so the boy can develop properly, they need the testosterone. I asked about the females just out of curiousity because we'd had Kona spayed at 6 months and she said that females as well should be done after that amount of time too because they need their little female hormones for growth too. It makes sense to me.
