| Another Dog Food Thread - New Brand (Good?) This dog food (an new brand - All American Pet Products) was recommended to me I'm having a hard time deciphering all of the pros and cons of different dog foods through out the threads on this site to tell what is good or what to feed our dobes. Please check on the following link. It shows the guaranteed analysis as well as the ingredient list at the bottom. Are the percentages and the ingredients good? I hope someone out there knows a lot about this and can advise me/everyone. Thanks! Large Breed Adult Dog Food |

| I don't know a whole lot about foods but It seems decent. I do think there are better foods out there for the price. $41 for a 35lb bag doesn't seem like such a great deal after you read some of the ingredients... then again there are some ingredients that are very nice too. Is there any particular reason to switch foods?
edit: dried egg product is listed twice... ?
It seems like a smaller food company which could be good or bad. The website Isn't as professional as it really could be.

| Reading through some of the information in the links posted on this forum (in the education section), it appears that "the experts" recommend having two or three dog foods that you and your dog like and rotating them every few months. This way they can get any nutrition they might be missing from one food by way of another food. They say it's not bad to continually switch your dog's food.
I'm trying to find a few dog foods that are high in quality and good for dobermans/large breeds, and rotate them. I'm also planning on supplementing the commercial/dry foods with some natural foods every so often, including meats and other proteins, maybe even some veggies. |

| The food looks ok, I've never heard of the brand, you said it's new? I think I'd rather stick to a brand/company with a long track record of safe food, good customer service, etc.

| I would have to disagree with the food rotating. Once you find a good balanced food that your dog thrives on, there should be no reason to deal with switching foods. Switching foods can sometimes be harsh on the digestive system in the first place. You will find that some of the popular foods on here are Canidae, taste of the wild, solid gold, innova, timberwolf organics, raw diets, and recently I've noticed a lot of people having success with purina pro plan (which is more readily availible). Sometimes it's just a guessing game to find out what your dog(s) does well on. Talk to your vet about any special considerations of course. I feed Canidae als and have had good results. I don't plan to switch to anything else unless there are major changes in the manufacturing/ingredients |

| I think it looks decent, but not outstanding quality, based on that ingredient list.
The second two ingredients are grain/cereal, so, meh.
For that price, I think you can do better.
It's only this past year that I've started learning about the actual manufacturing issues and quality control.
I agree, I'd want to know where it's made and what the safety record and QA is.

| Not something I personally would feed due to some of the ingredients (corn, beet pulp) which are considered fillers.
You could do much better.
As for rotating, I do it usually with every bag. However, my Sibe has a cast iron gut and a 30lb bag of food lasts him a little over 3 months.
