bee sting.

Duncan got stung by a bee! He isnt panting heavy or anything just kind of licking it from time to time. Do you all think this is an emergency? He doesnt seem like he is in any serious pain.

sounds fine, especially if no swelling. You would know any severe allergic reactions. If swelling, might call the vet for a recommendation - maybe some benadryl?

Well no swelling but i can feel the bump and he keeps scratching it. But thats about it. I rubbed an ice cube on it, but he kept trying to eat the ice cube so i gave it to him, he seems happy about that he ate dinner. I think the worst is over. I think back to when i was a kid and got stung by a bee and really just kept playing or doing what ever it was i was doing. I think he will be fine.

As long as the dog is not biting bees and getting stung in the mouth or throat the sting does not usually cause seriuos problems. When it happens if you can remove the stinger it will help control the amout of 'venom' the little beggars pump in. there is a homeopathic remedy that is handy to keep at home called Apis mellificia if symptoms are swelling and if ice relieves irritation.
I once had a Labrador run into a wasp nest in our grape arbour, she came in the house covered in about 100 stings, we dosed her with Apis and within 20 minutes the swellings were gone.
