Ear Cropping

I'm so excited, we pick up our baby doberman this weekend - his name is LAW.

He will be around 11 1/2 weeks old. I purchased him from a private breeder in PA. She has mom and dad on site and the babies are living in her "puppy condo" area of the basement (which is carpeted and nice from what I hear).

Anyway - he had his ears cropped on June 16th and she took him back for a re-wrapping and she said all 3 pups that got the ears cropped have minor infections but the vet said not to worry and gave him antiobotics.

Is this somewhat normal??? I'm new to owning a Doberman - ALWAYS ALWAYS wanted one...... now here he comes!!!!

Oh and at 9 weeks he was 18.1 lbs - is that good?

Thanks!

Infection could mean the ears were wrapped too much or too tightly. Really, they should heal almost all the way before they are posted.

Don't know about the cropping but the weight seems within normal range for the age.

My advice is to feed a raw diet.I use Primal Organic but most of the raw diets are OK...It's expensive but well worth it. You can go on the internet and look at all the raw diets that are available...
