| you are not giving up on him. You realize and respect his needs. Needs that you are able to see you cannot meet. I personally respect you for admitting that and being a big enough person to allow someone else a chance to do so. Think about it - some people would not be willing to put themselves threw the heartache of giving him back. In that case, Cirrus would not be given the proper care. You are doing what is right for Cirrus - a very unselfish act. There is someone out there that has a need that Cirrus will fill - there is also another Dobe out there that will fill your needs - and then some. I truly am sorry you and your family have to go threw this. Many hugs going your way. Hang in there |

| You have to do what is right for you. You didn't breed the dog and you didn't know about his condition. and it sounds like the best practical decision given the amount of stairs in your place and his inability to cope with them. Hopefully the rescue can better place him now that his condition is known. |

| I also feel that this was something that rescue should have picked up on to begin with. Had you known from the get go that Cirrus had wobblers, you would not have taken him home (knowing you couldn't possibly meet his needs).
Instead, you had to go through all of this worry, heartache and now guilt of returning him. I'd be darn miffed at the rescue you got him from.
SO SORRY. (((hugs)))

| | Big Pup | It's such a horrible feeling. I've been saying to myself that it's also in the best of interest of Cirrus to be placed in a home that is ready to cope with a special needs Dobie, but I don't think I'll ever shake the guilt. This is already his 3 home(at least) and he's such a sweet dog and doesnt' deserve this. |

| You have a good heart and it shows. Thank you for trying to help Cirrus, and remember, there is someone out there that has "the" right house, and the amount of time needed by Cirrus. I bet my bottom dollar Cirrus is thankful for the time and love you have shown him. If he could talk, he may just say " hey man - I love ya - but I can't be doing these stairs!" "By the way - thanks for the awesome vacation! Love man - mean it"!! |

| No he doesn't deserve this and it wouldn't have happened if the rescue had caught the problem. They fell down on their job with Cirrus and I hope they do a better job with him now. I hope they are very, very apologetic to you for putting you thru this torment.
Both of you will suffer for their mistake.
I really hate to be so hard on the rescue but this is just terrible.
Maybe you should read up on this before you pick up another doberman. Genetic Diseases*in Dobermans
You will be more informed on what to watch out for and ask questions about, |

What Jax said.
And--he was in your life for a reason. You two met for a reason.
The love and consideration you gave to him counts. It does not take away anything from his life, rather, it adds to it.
I know it was difficult, but sounds like the right decision for all was made.
Best of luck to you. And remember, Cirrus would not want you to be discouraged over him. He wouldn't.
When you find a new dog who fits in your family, and you are watching them romp and smile, think fondly of Cirrus and just wish him well, but don't bog down in guilt and regret.

((HUGS)) I can't even begin to imagine what you're feeling and I'm so sorry that you have to go through this. Cirrus is very lucky to have had the time wtih you and you did the very best you could. You were SMART enough to realize that you couldn't care for a special needs dober-dude, and in the most un-selfish act you could've possibly done, you did the right thing. It doesn't lessen the pain any, but I hope you can find strength in the support here on the DT and with your loved ones.
I believe that everything happens for it's own reason - no coincidence's, and you & Cirrus came together for a reason that may be yet realized.
Best wishes to you! |
