Minor cough

Hey there me again with another question. I noticed the other day that Bonnie had a bit of a cough after she ate like a piece of food was stuck, only lasted 2 seconds or so. Then every now and again she do it again. it sounds like she is clearing her throat. In three days i have only heard it a couple times. She got her kennen cough med 3 weeks ago so i didnt think it was that but im not sure. I guess she is gonna go to the vet on saturday to see. Does anyone have any thoughts on this. I have googled it but found mostly scientific stuff. btw the DT search i can never figure it out right

Try searching using the advanced feature. The regular search never seems to work for me.

Could she have irritated it maybe on a piece of chewie or food?

1. If it's kennel cough - you will need antibiotics. Looks liek it's not b/c she is vaccinated and doesn't have much of a cough or runny nose.
2. If it's a cold - cough medicine and Clavamox.
3. If it's an obstruction - pour a spoonful of olive oil into her mouth, will help...

Coughing is a troublesome symptom. Many things can cause irritation within the respiratory tract. Take a note of when your dog coughs eg. after it eats, when it wakes up, after it exersices, twice a day or once every other day. Is it a 'wet' cough, 'dry' cough, phlegmy cough? Are there any other symptoms eg. bad breath, overly tired, eats less, slower etc. So when you talk to your Vet you can give them lots of information that may help them diagnose your dogs condition.
Let us know how things go. I hope all will be well with your pup.

It seems to be mostly when she wakes up and its dry just like clearing your throat. I got up this morning and now Clyde did it. I think im gonna go nuts this week. I doesnt seem to bother them. It sure hasnt slowed them down (lol) Im gonna talk to the vet today and probable go see her tomarrow. Whats really agrivating is i have to miss puppy school.

I don't want to be an alarmist but the first sign of Kona having DCM was a cough that sounded like a "little something" tickling her throat. I pray and pray this is NOT what is going on but as my vet misdiagnosed it and I think you ought to bring it up as something to check immediately. Please just have him/her have a looong listen to the heart and chest area when she isn't having fast-scared-of-the-vet breathing. I hope it's just the sniffles or something simple. Off to the vet again, oh joy.

I just read on it i hope thats not what they have. The are not supposed to be related so i dont know what the odds are that they would have that at the same time. I Will ask the vet about it. Thanks!!!!

Aren't these just young puppies?? She shouldn't have to worry about DCM on a young puppy. It wouldn't hurt to have the vet give a listen to the heart in case it is something they were born with tho. Can't think of the the word for it now.
