| Licked Paw raw...is there something that will help? Hey all!
Lexx got a bug bite on one of his rear toes and has apparently been licking it a lot. I've been out of the country and came home to a puppy with a red raw toe.
Is there something that I can put on it to discourage the licking that won't sting the foot?

| put meds on the wound and then put Tea Tree Oil around it, most won't lick it with that on it. I get mine at Walgreens. |

| hope you don't mind if I hitch a ride on your thread - we have a similar situation. Quincy has a couple of raw spots in between two of his toes, right at the toe 'knuckle's, like they have been rubbing together. Now I can't medicate them because he goes lick crazy. |

| Have you ever tried Bitter Apple? I'm not sure if it stings or not, but it's meant to be applied to the skin for hot spots and such so I would think that would be fine. |

| Tea Tree Oil works much better than Bitter Apple to keep them from licking.

| I was just debating whether to soak Parkers foot in epsom salts as he has a rough, sensitive place on his pad thingy (the pad above the ankle in the back of his front leg)that he has been licking like crazy lately.
Has anyone done this or what do you think?? |

| | Big Dog | After everything failed I used my old sock to prevent him from licking the paw wound. That's the only way King's wounds can heal . |
