Question crated for 2 weeks HELP with entertaining???

Friday June 2, I had my baby Scarlet (7month old red/rust) spayed. On Sunday, June 4, Her incision came open and would not close back up. Turns out she has von Willebrans, or so my vet tells but from my research, test results are not accurate after being on medications or/and after recent surgery. I have lost a little faith in my vet during this process so I think I will have her re-tested when she ever heals up. Finally an ER overnight Vet put in stitches on the skin level Wednesday evening when she was profusely bleeding because the wound had gaped open even more. This has made the incision area seal up. My vet refused to put stitches on the skin level for some reason, but we really had no choice on Wed. night. This weekend she developed an abscess at the incision, which burst open this evening. Back to the ER vet and another belly wrap is in place and she is on crate duty only for at least a week if not two, so I would really appreciate any ideas suggestions that anyone has on how to entertain puppies when they are in their crates. She does pretty good, but gets frustrated at times because she wants to play. Also if anyone has been thru a similar situation I would appreciate some advice and optimism that this will heal up and she will not have to live with a belly wrap forever.

i've never had an inscision pop open before, but did have a dog get a sore on it. i used neosporin, but i wouldnt advise that for your case.

as for crate based entertainment, kong with p-nutbutter or kibble to roll out of, ,bones, even a stuffie,or cuz toy. she can squeak the dickens outa that. in many ways, dogs are kids.you give them the worlds most annoying toy.they''ll play for hours! lol.
if she can see a tv from her crate, put the tv on,or a radio. it works for mental stim in a pinch.
best of luck and healing vibes your way!

If you test your girl for vWD - do not bother with the blood test; you need to do the DNA test. And, I've never had this sorts of problems with a spay; I'm sorry for your experience.

Q's stitches burst open and they said he was allegic to the sutures. The day after they went ahead and removed the internal ones, he healed right up. Of course he is male so it is easier than with a female. I have seen humans have to pack their wound with gauze and change it a few times a day, irragating with sterile water, they had to wear a laced up girtle type thing to hold it all together. Keep us posted, I will pray for her and you.
