my two cents on insurance - you might consider putting away a set amount each month in an interest bearing account just for doggy emergencies. Insurance requires monthly premiums (you can save that away on your own) and deductibles and not everything is covered (ie read the fine print).
But let's get clyde feeling better first |

| Hope all is well with your guy today. Next time your dog has similar symptoms, do not 'offer' any food, only water for at least 24 hours. This allows the digestive system time to rest and relax. Another good thing to do is learn how to take your dogs temperature. A rise in temp. is an indicator that something other than a digestive 'disturbance' is going on. |

| Glad to hear the good news. Could it have been a reaction to something in the new food???

Thank every one for the moral support | Does he like to eat a lot of grass? Sometimes my dogs overdo and will explode from both ends. In fact, Aubrey just recently did that. She vomited grass and green gunk all over my bedroom, and then had the runs for 2 days (green w/stringy grass in it)
It's just a thought.
(sorry, don't mean to be disgusting)

| Sorry I have not been surfing the site for a few days. I just wanted to say that I'm so glad your boy is doing better. For the record, I think someone should clarify that if a dog has bloat, they don't vomit, they try, but nothing comes up. Generally when they vomit and try to poop a lot, it is commonly a blockage. I'm no expert and am only repeating what I have read to be true on this site. Just wanted to be sure you knew that if your dog did walk around dry heaving with nothing coming up, that is an emergency, where he could die really, really fast, so you have to rush to any vet you can get to. If they are vomiting you have a little more time (unless they have eaten posion). Again, I'm so glad he is ok, I had a scare like this about a week ago myself but Thank God my boy is ok also. He was vomiting up everything and going to poop every few minutes, with only a little stringy stuff coming out. He had a blockage, but about 5 minutes before my husband pulled up to help me get him to the Vet, he passed the blockage and was like a new dog right away. I hosed it (what he passed) off to see what it was, get this $#!^, it was paper towels he took out of the garbage can. Based on advice I read here, I went and got a metal can with a lid which you step on a pedal to open. Sorry for the long post but it took me awhile to understand the difference of the symptoms between bloat and blockage and I wanted to be sure others understood, so if they see boat symptoms, they can run as fast as possible to the nearest Vet.
