My dobe is girl is 1 year old. Her privates wreak. No horribly bad, but she licks it frequently and the moisture releases a rather unpleasant odor. I would prefer not to go to the vet yet because I don't see any infection or swelling. I thought someone might know if this is common and if there is any home remedies I can try first.

For the record, she had an emergency surgery to remove her uterus earlier this year due to an infection in the ovaries.

I would take her to a vet as soon as possible might have impacted anal glands, UTI, could be a number of things. Would hate for her to have a raging infection that might be hard to treat if you wait too long. Good Luck at the vets.How can a Home Remedy work when you do not know what the problem is???

Yogurt can restore healthy bacteria in the urinary tract. But, you should definately take her to the vet just to be on the safe side.

vets is my vote. she could have a number of things,but a discharge of any kind isnt normal. my first thought was a vaginal yeast infection.its not a pleasent thing,it stinks,is common after hysterectomy in women.its from the vaginal drying.plus she was weakened immunity/drained physically from the infection that prompted surgery anyways. that or anal glands are impacted. but a vet can better direct you.

Is she intact? If so it may be a closed pyometeria and nothing to fool with, get to vet asap! If she is spayed if may be a mild infection. Do her anal glands need depressing?
