| Apple cider vinegar So I have heard lots of great things about apple cider vinegar. It is supposed to help keep the lawn from browning, and may help keep the coat on Sage a little longer (I am starting to notice that she is thinning.), It is also supposed to help with the dry or flaky skin that we have....
Now the question is how do I use it? I have started putting about a half a teaspoon in her food in the evening... she isn't to happy about that let me tell you.... but what do I do for her coat?

| So, first, you have a fawn - they have a 40-60% chance of developing color dilution alopecia - regardless of what you do, Sage has a high probability of losing her coat. Secondly, if she is intact - i.e., not spayed - her coat thinning may be hormonal and totally unrelated to anything you feed her. Thirdly, to help ensure she keeps her coat, the best things you can do is to keep her clean and feed her the best possible food you can. I feed my fawn girl a raw diet and try to bathe her every 2 weeks; weekly when she was showing.

| | Big Dog | Dilute it in water and rinse her with it when bathing her.
I wouldn't put it in her food or water, it's an abuse IMHO. Its very difficult for an animal to eat/drink contaminated food or water. |

| Here is a little info I have from an allergy article.
"A cost effective proven method for skin problems is Apple Cider Vinegar mixed with water. 1 teaspoon of vinegar per cup of water. Vinegar is an antiseptic which prevents the proliferation of bacteria, viruses, or yeast that trigger infection. It can also dissolve excessive fatty deposits at the surface of the skin and reduce scaly or peeling conditions. Lastly, vinegar regulates the pH of the skin. Saturate the affected area with the vinegar solution.
Do not get near eyes or sensitive areas like the anus. Use cotton balls to apply the vinegar as these retain the moisture quite well. Unless the dog’s skin is infected, try to treat with natural methods rather than using antibiotics or steroids. Adding ½ teaspoon vinegar to your dogs drinking water will also help."
Using the formula above you could use it as a final rinse after a bath which is what some people on this forum do.

| I put a teaspoon in my dog's water in the mornings. I use the Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar. It's the raw unfiltered kind. I've heard to NOT use the regular kind. I also refrigerate it after opening since it has no preservatives. I think it does help with the dry skin and flakes. I also use The Missing Link, and it helps flakes to. Thinning hair is just part of having a dilute. I have a blue boy who just turned two, and his hair is not bad YET, but it is thinner than my red girl's hair. I think the dilutes are beautiful though. |

I've heard to NOT use the regular kind. That is what I have also been told, regular vinegar does not have the properties you are looking for

It is perfectly fine to put ACV in the water. It is hardly contaminated or an abuse.
