| Emergency advice, help please! I came home and Q had pooped and it shot out his cage on the wall. It had some small strings of what appeared to be material in it. He went outside and tried to poop and more came out with some mucos. Now he is vomiting, not his food he ate this morning, just phlem type stuff. My Vet is closed and I called an emergency Vet and put him on standby. He said take his water away (yes he has been drinking), and see if the vomiting stops, that he can dehydrate himself if he drinks and it makes him vomit. He said I can wait and watch him and take him to his Vet in the morning or I can wait a few hours and see if he acts better and if not, bring Q to him. He said I also could take him now. I don't want to over react but I don't want to take a chance. He won't lay down. It is 6:20pm here, my husband will be home at 7:30 and can help me take him. What should I do?????????????????????????? Is this an emergency???????????????? |

| He finally laid down. He was drinking water when I talked to the vet and he has not vomited it yet. It has been about 20 minutes. |

| Did you take his temperature? Is he unable to lie down and extremely restless? Has he thrown up or pooped anymore?
Yes, I'd take him to the ER if he were mine...but try to get a temp on him first. Watch him like a hawk and run him into the ER when your hubby walks in the door....even sooner if he won't settle down and is still very uncomfortable.
Could he have eaten some bedding? I remember you said you were trying that new bed? |

| He has not thrown up or pooped anymore. He is laying in the bathroom floor. He is laying down but does not look comfortable. I don't have a thermometer but he does not feel hot. His nose is cool. He looks like he does not feel good at all. Now I think I will vomit. Please everyone pray my boy is just sick. I love him so much. |

| I would be on my way to the ER vet. I am more of a "lets fix this now" person though.

| I would take him to the Vet ASAP! My dobie was not acting right. I knew that something was wrong. I called the vet at 12:00 AM, (He's a friend.) woke him up, but the symptoms didn't trigger anything! An hour later he was gone! To doggie heaven!
Don't mess around. Mother knows best! |

| He asked to go out (of course I followed him closely),he pooped again and this time a bunch of diarrea and a paper towel came out. We came back in and he walked over and looked out the window and then walked over and laid on the couch beside me. He does not look as uncomfortable now and he looks more relaxed. Again, please pray that he is fine by 7:30 when my honey gets home. I'm starting to feel a little better about it now since he looks like he feels a little better and I saw so much come out of him. Maybe it was the paper towel all balled up or something. He is also acting interested in noises outside again. But I have not ruled out a trip to the E-Vet just yet. My husband is having eye surgery in the morning so this has to be resolved tonight. My sweet little baby dog, I hate that he feels bad. |

My point being - if its just paper stuff, it might all pass as he drinks and poops. It you suspect he ate an object as well, it might be causing a blockage. But its hard to tell. |
