| Blockage Hey everyone,
My boy hasn't eaten in 3 days. I am concerned that he has a blockage as on the third day, he vomited a ball of grass the size of a softball. I tried making him white rice and hamburger, Canned Pumpkin, yogurt, etc....He just won't eat. He is also howling like a wolf during a full moon. He is obviously very uncomfortable.
I noticed that he did mange to pass some kind of bowl movement last night(3rd day), and it looks like a bit of diarrhea on his coat. I am more concerned that this a food blockage as he isn't one to eat socks or any other foreign material.
I do feed him EVO red meat small bites and Evo canned. He isn't drooling any brown discharge, but was panting pretty heavily yesterday(3rd day). I am curious if anyone has had their animal get a blockage from high quality food.
I managed to get him to eat 1 cup of kibble with some plain yogurt this AM, and will watch him today. If there is any sign of a continued problem, he is off to the vet.
[b]UPDATE[b]
It's 10:15 in the AM, over two hours since he ate. He is back to normal, although I will watch him all day as I know how serious a blockage is. He has eaten and is back to normal energy and wise guy attitude. I believe he passed whatever it was late last night. Thank you all for the concern.

| I am shocked you haven't brought him to the vet already and if you aren't already on your way there than you should be.

| Don't be shocked, as this only became worry some late last night. I appreciate all the suggestions, but he has eaten this AM and is no longer uncomfortable. He is also not howling. As I said, I am going to be with him all day and WILL go to the vet if I see any sign of a relapse.
Thanks.

| Mine have good appetites, so if they didn't eat for three days I would take them in, because you just never know. It's better to be safe than sorry. Yes, they can choke on ANY kind of kibble, whether it's Evo or Alpo. Maybe he just wasn't feeling well. I hope all is well. Will you please keep us updated? Sending good thoughts your way. |

| I'd still see the vet, a friend had a similar problem with a golden, turned out she had some rocks sitting her stomach! I can appreciate how this could happen because Grace was a rock eater as a pup, fortunately they were all small and passed but my vet had me give her metamucil to help them thru .

| Ok......
He has been on Evo as mentioned. He ate 1 cup of kibble with 3 tablespoons of yogurt this AM...the first meal he had in three days. He was back to normal for today as I am confident he passed the blockage late last night ( we had a poker game and everybody knew he had a problem...we were all watching him as he is the poker mascot) He was outside at 11PM and then came back with a spot of diarrhea on his back end . Also, I am very confident that the blockage was food related.
Now I make him two cups of kibble with his regular evo canned. He refuses to eat it. I dump the food and make him 4 eggs with two yokes and some cottage cheese. He devours this. I think he is letting me know that the EVO is causing him the problem, or at least something is wrong. He was doing so great on EVO for the last three months.
I am just looking for opinions or answers, as I am at a loss for any explanation here......Baffled....
