Prescription Science Diet ZD

Do any of you guys feed this kibble? Formulated as ultra allergin free. My dobe has sensitive skin I was considering feeding it and wondering if any of you had used this product with good results.

There is no product reviews for the prescription line of Science Diet foods on the dog food analysis website.

Thanks so much.

I havent used it but the vet i worked with put his boxer on it..with limited results. But his poor dog was allerigic to anything you could name all grains except oatmeal i think even allergic to cotton!!!
I think there was a cat at our clinic who was on it with success.

I have no personal experience, but it has chemical preservatives, and the other ingredients don't look to good either. Have you tried any of the premium foods for sensitive skin? Even Purina Pro Plan for sensitive skin and stomach has better ingredients than Science Diet. I think Natural Balance has a low allergen food. California Natural has one to. Just my opinion, hope it helps. I'm sure other's will have good suggestions.

I would go with something like California Natural.

I had a client cat on it and finally doing well until SD changed the formulation w/o notifying us. We have found another food finally that the cat does well on.

Yeah not a hugley popular food, with our clinic either and i dont think the cats enjoyed it at all i prefer the medi-cal canned products, and for urinary issues i like RC s/o and the cats enjoy it. But especially development vs p/d, I hate the p/d formula.

My Magnum, bless his memory, had terrible food and environmental allergies. They were so bad he had chronic inflammatory bowel disease and would have seizures. Anyway he was placed on Science Diet Z/D Ultra (which is totally devoid of protein antigens) and did not have another seizure for the remainder of his life once he was on that diet [4+ years]. The Z/D formula is just their reduced antigen formula and I don't think it's that great for those with serious food allergies so its best to go with the Z/D Ultra formula (antigen free).

I will say that you will need to supplement the Science Diet with Omega fatty acids. Their formulas do not have enough given the stress of dietary sensitivities. I gave Magnum fish oil, vitamin E, and flaxseed oil as supplements to this food. Otherwise you will be dealing with dry itchy skin problems using Science Diet.

For Mariah and Drago I am using an all natural brand food (which wasn't available when Magnum was around) called Pinnacle. Breeder's Choice Pet Foods - Premium, Natural Pet Foods and Treats for Dogs and Cats They are on the Trout and Sweet Potato formula. My cat, Jasper, gets the kitty formula and all of them really love it. It's so nice to have more natural choices these days.

Good luck, Tracy

Kimmi. I get mine through my local pet store who specializes in natural foods. But it is also available online at PetFoodDirect.Com. []Pinnacle - Breeder's Choice - Dry Dog Food - PetFoodDirect

They have other natural formulas there too.
