goo in the corner of his eyes

Hello,

Not sure if this is normal or not... but my dobe always has goo in the corner of his eyes... especially in the morning. I know us humans have the same thing in the morning... just thought it was weird because my other dog never has any !

Normal?

Thank you

TrexFanatic will become famous soon enough
We had a Dobe with the same problem and it is a known problem from what I have read. It is normally that the eye it self is recessed slightly in the eye cavity allowing sleep/dust and dirt to accumulate in the corner of the eye. Our dog learnt to clean its own eyes out which was helpful. Easiest thing to do is wipe them out daily with a moist tissue or soft cotton cloth etc. Unless the goo is green or yellow it should be no reason for concern. Grey is accepted as the normal colour for eye goo that is not indicative of other health issues.

Our gal has the same "problem", it does get much more pronounced when the wind starts kickin' lots of dust and dirt around. She lets us wipe it out when it works it's way to the corner of her eye, vet said not to worry (unless it's a color other than whitish/gray!) it's normal.

How old is he? I was told that it sometimes gets better after teething is done. My male gets it sometimes, my female always has it. She is just 6 months, I am hoping it gets better. If not, keep a tissue with you at all times. Kinda like a kid with a runny nose.

Mars used to have the same problem but after we switched to a super premium feed the problem is now minimal.

He is 11 months old... and he's been having this for the last 6 months or so. When he was really young he didn't...
