| Nose Bleed Has anyone's dobe ever had a nose bleed before?
I've never actually heard of any dog having one but Bailey had one on Wednesday night. We were out playing fetch the stick when I noticed the stick had some blood on it. I thought he must have bit his lip maybe but when I got closer to him I saw his face and chest were covered in blood. It was a bit of a panic moment. It was a real gusher as well, running out his left nostril and all over the place (mostly all over my clothes. looked like I had just murdered someone) Strange thing was that it stopped almost instantly and he carried on running around like nothing had happened.
I'm guessing that when he ran after the stick, he put his head down to get it and banged his nose off the ground. Would that be a safe guess? |

| I would go to the vet and have him checked. Do you know his vwd status?

| Did the stick jab his nostril and give him a tiny cut? Horses with a nose bleed often end up with a tiny cut up inside the nostril somewhere...like they jabbed a dry stalk of hay in there or something. As you know, noses bleed like crazy.
I agree that I'd get the vwd test done if you haven't already. You need to know status anyway for his general wellbeing. |

| I agree with the other 2 posts get a vmb/d test done. Some forms of Von Wille's can result in spontaneous bleeding, particularly from the nose. My boy has a lesser form but when he had an op he wouldn't stop bleeding for hours. You need to know as like me if our dogs need an op in the future we can let the surgeon know to use a clotting agent proir to the op.
Saying that a terrier mix I used to have would sometimes just bash his nose and cause it to bleed - he was a perfectly healthy dog.
Hope he's ok |

| Sounds like a nasal polyp burst. i had a red male years ago that had it happen. He bled profusely from his left nostril, the amout of blood loss was frightening.
Let us know what the Vet says. |
