| Feeding by Hand Rudy ate his food, but left a fair amount. He ate the rest but I had to put it in my palm. He ate the rest out of my hand just fine. Just wondering why he ate it then?
Sincerely

| Sounds like he's training you scoob.
If given the opportunity they will become picky eaters. Your best bet is to offer the food and if he doesn't eat it after 15 minutes take it away and wait for the next feeding.
A dog will not starve itself but it can and will develop bad habits - like not eating unless you're right there to hand feed...

| Sounds like you need a little female dobie too! One that will sit there and drool at Rudy's dish until he eats it all. A little competition. lol. |

| I think I will get a female this summer.
I have been planning on getting one in the next year + he needs a playmate.

| You're not alone Scoob. I'm guilty of that too. Last week we were on vacation to Florida. Came back Friday, Susie did not have a good apetite. We had her spayed while we were gone. I'm sure everything went well, her incision looks clean and no swolen areas, and she is wild and playful bouncing off the walls usual. But, she didn't have an apetite, this from a dog who woke me up at 2 AM and ran to the refrigerator. So naturaly we did the hand feeding bit. She is now starting to eat better. Our trainer thinks she is playing us. |

| Ok, I am going to prepare 2 cups of his food in the morning and 2 cups in the evening, and if he doesn't eat in 15 minutes, I will put it in the refrigerator. I am feeding California Natural Lamb and Rice kibble, mixed with 1/2 can of Canidae Lamb and Rice + 2-3" of Dick VanPatten's Lamb and Rice tube food + a package of commercial gravy -- cannot remember the name -- over the top.
Sounds like a meal fit for a King!!
