| Hard to keep Rudy down after a bowel movement Rudy doing what he should not be doing with his MCL swelling -- running. He ran after a bowel movement. He always runs after he poops.

| Cheers does that! She zooms away at top speed like her "load" has been lightened! I've never owned a Dobe who ran from their own poop before...but she does every day.
Tell Rudy to take it easy. How is the rest program coming otherwise? Is the swelling going down and is he more comfortable? It's hard to keep a young dog resting for as long as you have had to, Scoob. |

| I am trying to keep him from running, but it is difficult. He still has swelling and is on meds. I hate to confine him all the time. He loves to run and play. I am hoping he gets better soon. I am doing the best I can with him. After he poops, I could shock him, then he will stop running and then confine him, but I want to give him a little freedom. Thank you for asking.

| Why not keep him on a leash for now?
Only until he's better.

| | Alpha | You might try a long line with him so he has some freedom to get further from you to take care of buisness but discourage the all out running after. |

| Jim how about a Flexi Leash? This way you could give him some freedom when you need to, and then pull him in when you want. I got a really heavy duty one for Petey, and is works great for certain situations.

| I agree with the leash suggestions.. i know that you feel badly, but honestly he's not going to get better if he's zooming around on it all the time.
poor baby dog, hopefully it heals soon

| When my Collie had ACL surgery I had to keep him on a leash so he would not run till they said it was ok. Good luck and keep us posted on his progress. Q won't poop on leash because he is used to being off leash when he does it, so I understand what you are going through. |
