FreyaTheDobe is on a distinguished road
What to feeed her ?

I'd appreciate some advice and thoughts about what kind of food I should be feding Freya.
At the moment she has a mix of Pedrigree dry food with meat from a can of the same brand. Before that she was on another , pet science I think it was called.
However she is very picky and will often nibble at her food and leave a good deal. I have never had a dog that doesn't just ''wolf'' food down.
I've noticed that if I have some left over chicken, bacon or steak and mix that in she loves it but can pick those choice bits out, leaving the rest. Which is making me think perhaps I should be feeding her something a bit more exciting.
Any thoughts ?

I feed Canidae dry with Evengers for wet. They make Canidae in a can also. For me personally I do not feed what I call "commercial" food. I prefer a quality food as it is reflected in their coat. You can do a search for dog food reviews. You will be amazed.

pick a good quality food based on the nutritional needs of the dog, good 'science', and your budget. There is a lot of info in DT - just do a search.

That said, watch out for picky eating and letting the dog control what you feed her. You might have to 'tough love' her to break her of the habit of picking only the good stuff. She will do a hunger strike to pull on your heart strings and it will be a battle of wills. She will hold out waiting for mamma to pull out the good stuff from the fridge or pantry. Mamma should hold out and let her know this is your food - eat it.

There are a lot of premium foods out there. Check the sites I have below to help you research foods. Go to the review section on the dogfoodanalysis site.
I have fed Canidae ALS and loved it but my new pup was allergic to the chicken (I believe) in it.
I fed Solid Gold wolfcub and wolfking and it was okay but some gas and soft stools that never firmed up after two or three bags fed.
Innova-loved it but Parker reacted to the chicken.
California Natural Lamb Meal and Rice allergy formula-love it.
When I first started feeding the Canidae I saw a marked improvement in coats my dogs. I had one and then got another. No more continual licking of feet that she did on Purina store brand. Stopped body scratching on the other.

I feed Canidae ALS, but if they have an allergy you can get just lamb or chicken....I only feed canned meat when I have a momma nursing, and I use the 20 minute rule.....what you don't eat in 20 minutes you do not get...........Picky eaters will learn to eat what is put in front of them just like we did growing up
Canidae is a great food, would recommend it to anyone.

There's also the option of a raw diet, if that's something you might be interested in. Just wanted to throw it out there.
