| have a friend who swears by it, but her last dog, a boxer, ended up very sick! you name it he had it, so in the end it was worth the high monthly cost. Poor boy died at 6 of a brain tumor, and because of him dying before 7, and the policy she had, she got her purchase price back (limit of $1000). She has just put a deposit on another boxer puppy and is looking at insurance plans again. Also had a neighbor with a pair of hounds, he insured them b/c they were runners and would get out of the yard, said it was worth the $.

| Never had it, never will. Insurance banks on you never using it and 99.9% of the time, the Insurance Company wins.

| I would say yes, it is worth it. I had the AKC pet healthcare plan and it was great. It covered shots, heartworm prevention, flea prevention, and also regular vet bills as well as an annual teeth cleaning. They were great about reimbursement and their customer service was very friendly.
One that I would never deal with again is VPI. I started with them, and they were horrible.
I have never heard of the one you are talking about, but be sure to check the limitations, and fine print.

| | Big Dog | I had insurance on my rats.
Ok, now that you stopped laughing, it was worth it. The cost was $72 a year for each one. The rats developed tumors like always and the insurance picked up $200 of the $400 for the operations. It also helped that there was a vet clinic on the Air Force base right up the road and they were really good about meds and such. |

| I dont beleive its worth it unless you use your dog for something. Like id insure a horse if he raced or a greyhound, ya know some animal like that but not my dobe just running around the backyard.

| I get health insurance for Zac and it's not really expensive. I pay €196 per year, and I've made it back each time on veterinary expenses - never anything major, but should he break a leg or something I don't have €1000 just laying around waiting to pay it. It really aids my peace of mind to know I can do whatever is necessary for my boy no matter what my circumstances are. |

| Definately well worth it. Jake died of DCM after being treated for Lymphoma for 12 months. The bill ended up around £8000 GBP which is around $16000 or so. It would have been heart breaking to see our Jakey going through Lymphoma without treatment and giving him a further 12 months.......
We now have a rescue of 14 months and have also insured him with the same company. They wont insure fully and have given restrictions of Behavoural problems and 3rd party cover.... all because the vet said he seemed nervous on a report to them. I am a bit annoyed at the vet because he is expected to be nervous, being at a centre for 4 weeks and meeting the vet for the 1st time within 48hrs of leaving the centre. He has turned out a really great guy with loads of love and gentleness. The point I am making here is the vet has done wrong, not the insurance company.
Go for it
