| Using Frontline and Advantage Together Up to this point, I've been using Advantage Multi for heartworm, flea and intestinal parasite prevention. But since we go on lots of walks in the woods, I want to cover Red for ticks as well, which Advantage Multi doesn't do. So I have added Frontline Plus.
My Merial rep said not to use Advantage Multi and Frontline together but to use Heartgard and Frontline instead (I have a feeling my Merial rep only wants me to use Merial products...), but my Bayer rep said it was fine and the two products are safe to use together.
I have done reasearch on VIN and spoke to a doctor I work with and the consensus has been that a lot of people use Advantage and Frontline together since there is a increasing issue of fleas becoming resistant to Frontline. My first inclination was to just do the Frontline and Heartgard and see if the fleas became and issue, but honestly, I don't want to wait until I see a problem to fix it. I'd rather prevent it altogether. From what I've read and heard about using Advantage and Frontline, is to stagger their applications by a couple of weeks.
My question is - do any of you use Advantage (or Advantage Multi) in conjunction with Frontline? Have you had any problems doing this? |
