Wyatt is not feeling well

Wyatt has had pretty upset tummy today! I have no idea what it could be? He has a TON of energy and is going bonkers- I am feeding him dinner now and he is scarfing it down? I'm going to keep an eye on him- i not as concerned as I would be if he wasnt eating or was lethargic. Anything I can give him to settle his stomach? I wonder if he ate some grass clippings? but i always am outside with him so he would have had to be pretty fast for me to not have seen it?

what leads you to believe he has an upset stomach? was he vomiting? Did he vomit bile?

If he is having trouble holding down dinner (throws up after eating)...boil some plain old rice to feed him with a little kibble for breakfast. Give him 1/2 rations for a few meals until he is holding everything down for a day. Don't give him anything too flavorful right now to eat either in a kong or as a treat.

Make sure he is quiet after eating! (Good luck with that one!) Sometimes if they are really active, drink a lot, and run...they end up getting sick just from frenetic activity.

Did he start any new food or snack? Eat mulch? They can get into so much it is hard to keep up with them at times! Sounds if he is energetic, eating and playing, that he may have just eaten something that disagreed with him.

I'd keep a close eye on him the next 24 hours to be sure...if he picked up a viral bug he may start running a fever etc that would warrant a trip to the vet.

ginger root eases an upset tummy in both people and dogs. i'd give him 2-3 capsules and give some plain rice after.if hes still burpy in the am.

I would NOT recommend giving him any OTC or herbal "remedies".
You can try a smaller bland meal like ellenm said.
I assume when you say "upset tummy" you mean that he vomited. If the vomiting persists, I would get him into the vet.
Good luck w/ your pup!

clipclop, for now just take notes on times he was fed, how often he vomits, any loose stools, and any other symptoms out of the ordinary that you observe. Watch him close for 24 - 48 hrs. If symptoms persist or worsen, run him to the Vets. Let us know how he does.

OK so he was all better- and this morning I woke up to Wyatt having thrown up in his crate. I am going to make him some rice and mix that in with some kibble and stay home for the first half of the day. If he doesnt get better with that by afternoon then I will take him to the Vet. He was perfectly fine at my last post and this just threw me off! What also gets me is that he has boundless energy- he is also taking in fluids just fine... not sure whats up

boiled rice and a little boiled chicken breast ( no skin) is also a good option. Try to keep him calmer and keep him drinking...

hopefully he'll get better in no time
