| That sounds interesting, you're likely the first one on DT from Ontario to go into this class, you'll have to share your experiences with us.

Or did i read that wrong??? Sorry, just a little confused by your wording
I will be officially a St john's volunteer when (ok, IF lol) Dante passes his therapy dog test. So we haven't started yet, but (hopefully) will.

| I used to Holter a St. John's therapy Doberman in my area. He's passed away now, and her next Doberman was unsuitable for the work, apparently. I thought about doing it back when I saw that woman more frequently. My dogs would be great at it. Me? Not so much. |

| if you look on the dpcc site, check out Starion kennels, contact the breeder, she is very involved in therapy with her dobermans, and the St. John's program out of Orangeville

| I volunteer in BC with a different organization, my MinPin loved it but did get depressed after a while - he did palative care and would get upset when someone passed. Mocha goes to the old folks home and just loves it, loves to show off and get pats. Fawnzie my MinPin is going to start going to the hospital to visit kids this year I hope as he LOVES kids! Mocha does too but she's cool with the older folks for now and they adore her. |

| Sorry i got my dates wrong, the meet up is in Barrie tomarrow (oct.2)at 7:00pm for a meeting (no dogs) this is manditory to proceed to your dog doing the test which i read is similar to CGC (CGN) test. Once the dog passes you get a scarf for your companion to wear and must do your first 10 sessions with a fellow member to break you in, they usually place you in your own community which is great. To work for sick kids or schools, you need to put in i think 40 sessions or so at adulthomes, hosp. etc. If anyone is in area interested, you can call st. johns ambulance in simcoe at 705-726-0991. (open until 4:30pm) maby i will see you there! if not, i will update you tomarrow on meeting. |

It's mainly just an information session to inform people of the requirements and expectations of the program. For us our first 4 sessions will be accompanied by the program coordinator, but she is willing to do up to 12 if the pair is not comfortable by the end of 4. We get an official therapy dog tag in 8 weeks from the start of official visits.
I hope you get alot out of the session tomorrow! Would love to hear about how it went
