I just read this on Facebook ... Michelle Santana of Foxfire Dobermans has won Dogs in Review's Breeder of the Year.

Not sure how influential a publication this is, but sounds like a lovely honor!

I learn soming everyday did not know FIFI was a foxfire dobe ty old drum great looking young lady saw her in chicago .Jocelyn was very cool took pictures with me an dino great time at the show

Well thats understandable because shes from Protocol kennels but Jet (Ch. Foxfires All Star) is her sire whom belongs to foxfire

I had thought Michelle showed Fifi early in her career, didnt she? Then Jocelyn took over being her handler, and the rest is history, still being made.
Congratulations to both Michelle and Jocelyn for the awards. They both deserve them.

Michelle did show Fifi early in her career and got her to the number 1 spot. Jocelyn has handled her since and held on to that spot.

I'm just thrilled for Michelle. What a huge honor! Well deserved and hard earned!

Since you mention it's a huge honor to have received this award, I'm curious what it means for a publication like Dogs in Review to present this honor to someone. Are they on par with the AKC? Or are they the "top dog" when it comes to making this distinction?

I looked it up last night to see what the criteria is for the nomination/win, but couldn't find anything.

Before any members who idolize Michelle/Foxfire get up in arms over this question, it has nothing to do with her merit. I'm genuinely asking out of curiosity and would do so regardless of the winner.

Dogs in Review is one of the larger publications. Each issue is roughly 250 pages and features top dogs of the world, dog show results and judge info, monthly reports of top winners, AKC Chairman monthly reports, health and genetic info, etc.

Give her a call...I have no doubt that she can tell you what the criteria was exactly.

Wow. I didn't realize they were an international publication and so in-depth. That is pretty impressive. Thanks for the info.

I'm sure Michelle has got nothing but time to run down the criteria for me. Lol. It's not a big deal; just being nosy. I'll take their word for it.

I don't know the "story", but I have seen posts on Fifi's FB page welcoming so and so to "Team Fifi", as well as thank you's or Happy Birthday or...... to "Team Fifi" member so and so. Never really thought much about it, just kind of assumed that Fifi had a team behind her helping to pay for show career.

I know Karma (the bitch Cambria had in the Top 20 last year) did/does, because I know somebody that is part of "Team Karma".

So..... I dunno? But, the expense has to be astronomical.

She does. Not sure if you've seen her ads in dog news but there's always a big picture of lubrisyn, who are her backers.

I imagine the Lundy's are pretty big contributors as well?? But yes..I've also seen the ads featuring Lubrisyn. Thought there was another at some point too though.

For some reason I thought the Lundy's owned Lubrisyn. But I think I just made that up on my head.

Regardless congratulations to Jocelyn on Fifi's amazing accomplishment! And congrats to Michelle on breeder of the year.

The only "backers" per se, are her co-owners, Dick and Suzy Lundy along with of course, Jocelyn and Kevin. LubuSyn is indeed owned by Dick. It is amazing that she is the front runner when she has been outspent 10 to 1 during the campaigning process.
