| Euro Breeders? I'm kind of at a loss here...
As I've been searching, my fiancé and I have decided we would like to go with a dog from a European working line that will be suitable for Schutzhund when he's old enough.
This is the point in our lives where we can really learn something new and really go all out with our Dobe and his training. I've found that staying 'local' within adjoining states is probably not going to work, so some help would be much appreciated.
Anyone know some search tricks for us to narrow our searches to European breeders that are here in the states or just continuing to go through sites and send out emails? Are there any members here that will give some good referrals?
Since we're getting really picky about our puppy we aren't going to be too picky about where we need to travel. We realize that this will be a more expensive puppy and we are prepared for that. |

| There are really very, very few breeders of true working line Dobermann's in the states. There are a number of breeders of dogs from Euro showlines. You are welcome to PM me if you like. |

| There are a few breeders here in the states. Vicaral, landgraf, von mollerhof, cara dobe, incredible dobes. These are the only ones that I have personally seen and know that they adhere to health, longeveity, and temperment. They come in very different looks though. All Euro but from different places and different lines. Good luck and welcome to the sport of Schutzhund.. Your new addiction. |

If you haven't already established connections to clubs / trainers in your area, I'd suggest you do that before purchasing the dog. You could buy a puppy that has all the potential and talent in the world, but without good training it will be for naught.

| I don't know if you've considered importing, but I met a lovely pup over the weekend from Ascomannis Dobermans (Denmark, I think?) who is training in Mondio Ring.

| Thanks everyone! I'll check out those breeders. And get a PM to you, Rosamburg, though it might be tomorrow.
We have emailed High Plains Schutzhund in Denver and seeing what other groups are around. While the breeder can be where ever, we do need to stay semi-local for training. I guess to avoid pulling this thread off topic, I'll go to the training forums for that haha!
We discussed importing, but it seems like that would be too expensive for us (though, admittedly, I haven't really looked into importing.) I might check into it as a another option though.

| Definately look into lines when purchasing any dog, but there are some very well known Euro names out there that have alot of DCM in their lines ( sadly too much everywhere ) or just so overbred its sad.

| We both are pretty set on a doberman. My fiancé grew up with two, one a retired police dog that chose him to Velcro to haha! Plus their intelligence and personalities; a Dobe is just irresistible.
With the lines, I will admit that I'm really not sure how to check on things like DCM etc. so, again I guess it's off to another part of the forums and some more research haha. |

| I love my little female, she is showing very promising in her training for the sport!
Sire is from vom Landgraf and
the dam is from here: Chalmar Dobermans
I would contact Wendy at Landgraf, I have no idea what breedings she has upcoming if any. However she is pretty helpful and might be able to suggest another breeder to you. And I would also email Rosamburg like he suggested.

| | Doberman Slave | High Plains is an awesome club and very Doberman friendly. You will get good training and advice from them. I would not go anywhere else in the Denver area.
The UDC Nationals will be in your area in April, only a few months away. That will be a good venue to look at different Euro dogs and see the working abilities on trial. If you are patient, I suggest attending and getting a good look at Euro bred dogs from many different breeders in the U.S. that way, you can meet them personally.

| We will definitely want to attend the UDC event! Thank you for letting me know... Shows are one of the things I haven't really thought of for meeting some of the breeders and dogs. Landgraf is on my list to check in to... |

| I'm hoping to make it down there as well to meet some breeders and their dogs. Here is the website for the event: United Doberman Club Nationals 2013 Denver, Colorado
