| Pets with Potential in Ohio? We lost our little red girl three years ago and have recently been looking to welcome another doberman into our home.
In our search for a relatively local breeder, we came across Pets With Potential on Facebook. I've been in contact with the breeder and she's been very helpful thus far. Has anyone gotten a puppy from them? Thanks. https://www.facebook.com/AKCPetsWithPotential |

| I don't know what part of Ohio you're from, but do a search on Petfinder.com for dobermans in your area. This site will populate dobes in rescue/shelter situations and you can be sure your adoption $$ will fund more rescue of unwanted pets, and not atrocious BYBs l(ike the FB site you mentioned) looking to pump out another litter as soon as this one's gone.
Sorry about you little red girl. You can do much better than Pets with Potential (even the name is off putting somehow). |

| Please don't purchase from this breeder.....there are more than a handful of issues I see coming from this person who breeds z-factored dogs, takes deposits via texts, has around 4ish(I lost count) currently pregnant bitches, and who has a foundation sire without a mentioned pedigree or a shred of health testing. "I didn't see the need to color Dna test him because I can clearly see he is black and rust and his first litter was rainbow, so he obviously carries both diluted genes."....to paraphrase off the profile.
I think you should contact an ethical breeder who can make sure you leave with an A+ puppy and an A+ experience without a dollar sign for a motive. There are many on DT who can point you in the right direction.
Or, if you're wanting a Dobe sooner and/or at a cheaper cost, I bet there is a beautiful, loving one in a rescue who would love to be your new addition and prove how big their heart is.
Welcome to the forum! You have found the best source of Doberman friends and help out there!

| Reputable breeders - for new folks
Getting a dog from a good breeder doesn't mean they are a "show" dog. There are pets in every litter (I have one myself). It just means the breeder is health testing and conforming to breed standards which is very important in a breed known to have health problems. Longevity and health are #1 in my book, and you will have no idea what is in the lines of a BYB dog, like the one you found on facebook.
Or like mentioned above, rescue a Doberman in need from a breed rescue in your area. This is different than supporting a BYB who is producing ill-bred dogs for money.
Glad you found us Please stick around and ask questions before making any important decisions. This forum is a wealth of knowledge

| Please find another breeder. I am the person who started the thread entitled "question about a breeder him maybe over breeding." This thread is about my experience with pets with the potential as well as my concern about Savannah over breeding I purchased a pet from pets with potential and really regret it. If you purchase from Savannah be prepared to not receive any advice if you have any sort of problem with your puppy. We had many problems with our puppy and Savannah did not seem interested in helping at all. The only time she want to seem to speak to us was when things were going well with our pup. She also doesn't stick to the terms of her contract so that is something else to think about. When I posted my thread Savannah basically told me that I was messing with her livelihood. What kind of ethical breeder makes a living off of dogs? Please run the other way. She is a byb and she breeds way too much. I have never understood how her puppy buyers have not seen a problem with this. You can view my experience by clicking on the thread "Question about a breeder who may be over breeding" that one of the other DT members have already listed on this thread for you. These members here are great and they can really point you in the right direction of a reputable breeder or a great rescue, if indeed a Doberman is what you have your heart set on. I hope my experience will help you in some way. Best of luck to you in your search. |

| I'm from Ohio. I adopted my two adult red Dobes Cleo and Thor from the Columbus Hand Me Down Dobe Rescue in 2008. Hand Me Down Dobes - Doberman Rescue in Ohio and surrounding areas They are absolutely wonderful and have a great success rate in placing the dogs. I also recently purchased a puppy from an outstanding breeder in Kentucky, Michelle McGaha from A'Carrig Doberman. A'Carrig Doberman Pinschers If she doesn't have puppies available (and I don't think she does at the moment) I'm sure she can at least point you in the right direction. She is extremely helpful.

| Why hasn't anyone told them to look to the DPCA or UDC to see if anyone has a puppies or
any up coming litters that they might want to wait for? And remember just because they are listed does not mean the are the best or even good, still do your homework... |

| BethJean... Savannah Lancaster is in Mason, OH (Cincinnati area). I live in your area. I agree with everyone DO NOT BUY from this quack. I have not had any personal dealings with her, but I've seen a few of her dogs. I think I've been banned from her FB too! LOL. Yes, Carol has a few pups left. |

| This site has come up in another discussion I read and I believe that if you research Benchmark k9's or Dobermans that this is the new improved revamped Savannah Poole who on one site claims she no longer breeds z factored as she realizes now how unethical it is after much slamming on forums.
I think she has since start the pets with potential another scam.

All the issues are everyone else and not her. I have a pup and had issues as well. Please go somewhere else. Many health issues, extra vet bills after you pay $800, problems getting papers, etc. I watched the site on FB for over a yr and saw no negative feedback, but she deletes all the bad comments questioning things so potential buyers don't see the problems. States that she is not a negative person and just does not want bad comments on her page.
Also , when you pay for the pup and get the papers if you are lucky, they are not in her name. She must not be wanting to report income for some reason which I assume is not legal since the person who's name everything comes in has NEVER been the contact person and have never spoken to this person.
My guess and it is purely a guess is that she is on assistance and not wanting them to know she is making money. |

Sometimes there are AKC violations they're trying to avoid, or they wish to conceal the high number of litters, in order to avoid the need for an AKC inspection, and yes, sometimes it is also to conceal income from the IRS, and to avoid having to pay kennel permits/license fees and business taxes.
