| Welcome and I would visit DPCA.org breeder referral directory. Breeders are listed by state so it would allow you to have a better chance of finding someone close. We are excited for you and hope you search goes well.

| You may need to go outside of Nebraska. I know that Doug Jensen (Cedar Knoll) is in NE and there is also Cheridan.
There is a 4 day show in Omaha, Nov 15-18th. You may have some luck if you attend one day. Give you a chance to see what is in your area, meet breeders, etc.
Also, I think you price expectations might be a bit low. Generally a pet puppy from health tested parents, cropped, docked, etc. will run $1500-2000+.
Welcome to DT, good luck with your search and come back if you need more assistance.

| Welcome! For a good thread for puppies, look in my signature for the "What I wish I knew before I got my pup", and you will find posts in there from everyone with advice on pups. The people on here really helped me when I was getting Brandy! |

Does anyone have suggestions or referrals near or around Nebraska? I have sent emails to lots of breeders that I got off the AKC and DPCA sites. But not having much luck. Feel like some of the people "selling" Dobermans are not too worried about where they end up, etc. We know this dog will not be cheap, but want to make sure for our $1,000-$1,500 we are getting a healthy dog.
Any suggestions? And any questions you wish you would have asked before you got your puppy?
Thank you so much!!!! | Hey Lori,
My wife and I are in almost the eact same situation...Other than we are looking for another female to hang with our min-pin. Have you had any luck with finding a solid breeder? We found one in Iowa that isn't too far away but after doing more research, I'm starting to change my mind. Anyway, if you have any info we would appreciate it. Thanks and have a Happy New Year!

| | Alpha | Hey yea, I am curious also, as I live in Iowa and I have NEVER heard of any breeders here at least reputible ones. I know there is a guy here who has litters but he is a byb and I really doubt he does health testing at the very least. I know he is a nice guy and means well does not have a lot of breedings and may not be doing it any more either. I also know of a lady in the Keosakua area "prob isn't spelled right" I talked to her a longg time ago and I know she has NO idea what she is doing. I have also heard of a breeder around the Des Moines area used to know the name but can't remember anymore. So please fill us in on who you contacted or heard of. |
