| Jaimand Dobes North Dakota I came across this breeder upon recommendation on another thread I have posted here. They have a possible litter coming in 2013 and I want to do as much research as possible before committing to my first (and future) Dobe. Has anybody here heard feedback on this breeder? I'm looking for good, bad, anything! I did find out that the health tests they do include: 24 holter monitors and/or echocardriograms, thyroid, vWD, hips, and coat color testing. Is there any other testing I should look into? I do see liver tests were not included.. Any feeback is greatly appreciated! |

| I haven't heard of them, but I am not familiar with everyone. Reputable breeders - for new folks
These are the things that I like to see. If this breeder health tests like you say and titles and has few litter, they may be a reputable breeder. Enjoy! |

| Yes she has 3 bitches she is considering for the breeding, I received pictures of all 3. What was really nice to hear is that the third bitch is not titled yet, and they will not breed her until she is. They will be waiting to see how the fall/winter seasons go and decide from there. That to me is pretty reassuring in itself! |

| If you're referring to Jaimand, I *think* Meadowcat might know of them. I would send her a private message in case she doesn't see this thread.

| I know Mandy at Jaimand a little bit through Doberman Rescue Minnesota. I can say that she's a nice person. I don't have personal experience with her as a breeder, but I've seen her dogs in person (very nice) and she seems to be doing things right. Some of her lines go back to Kalora, which is nice in terms of longevity. As I would with any breeder, ask for results of health testing on the dogs, talk to her about what you are looking for.

| Mandy is lovely (only spoken over emails though). I really like their "George" and I like her breeding program. There is another DT'er that got a pup from her recent George x Flair litter I think... hopefully they will chime in soon.
She has a new pup that I am obsessed with! |

| You can't test for congenital deafness and vestibular disease, and the breeder won't tell you they breed deaf dogs. Do your homework on the disease and how the gene is passed on. I own one of the Jaimand deaf puppies and don't believe it is responsible or reputable to breed any dog that might be a carrier. My advice, look elsewhere. |

| Mandy is reputable. If u breed long enough u will see everything. A Ding puppy can happen to anyone. I would not hesitate to get a puppy from Mandy. |

| | Lil Pup | This is JAIMAND repsponding...I have proof that HOT LAVA who is AMY NYE of Iowa City, IA knew her puppy had vestibular syndrome BEFORE she drove down to see her puppy.I made a HUGE mistake. I know in my heart Penny is well taken care of...but I regret placing her in this home. Amy Nye signed the contract that I noted as well that the puppy had partial deafness as due to vestibular syndrome. She was no way forced to take this puppy!

| Mandy is an absolutely wonderful breeder. She is a very careful, putting a lot of time and energy into proving her dogs and planning out breedings. She has very nice dogs and has worked very hard to ensure that the puppies she produces are great examples of the breed. Breeding is extremely difficult and not every puppy produced will be perfect, things show up at times that you just can't plan for.
Mandy is nothing but forthcoming and honest about her puppies, she wants only the best for them and I know she cares very much for all of the puppies/dogs she produces. I have shown dogs of her breeding on occasion, and been at many shows with her. She is as good as they come.
Vestibular issues do occur on occasion in dobermans, they are often referred to as "ding" puppies. It is not well understood what causes it or the degree of heritability. Not all puppies are affected to the same degree, many go on to be happy normal dogs that are just deaf.

| I have known Mandy for years. She is a very resposible Doberman owner and breeder. She has a wonderful mentor in Cindy Lane, I would not hesitate to recommend her breeding program.
Congenital vestibular disease and deafness is probably much more prevalent in the breed then many people realize or breeders admit. Many/most are put to sleep when it is discovered (usually in the first week or two of life). Some, maybe many of these dogs could be wonderful family pets (I know two who are). One of the best known amd used sires , is thought to have produced TWIRLERS ( I like that better then DINGS) but that is far outweighed by all the other wonderful things that he brought to the breed.
I would not knock any breeder honest enough to say that they have appeared in their breeding program |

| | Alpha | Very informative never knew of this. Cindy Lane was mentioned, and if she knows her she has to be A-ok. I placed a call into Cindy sometime back and through some conversations she helped me discover the underlying illness my dog has. Cindy is a very nice lady who took time with me and I will always remember her kindness. |
