Have any of you heard of these guys? I Finally found myself a dobie puppy (via craigslist) shes 8 months and an almost purple color. I adore her but when I started asking the last owners (who purchased her from the breeder) questions like her or the parents being tested for vwd and the colors of her litter mates They didn't seem to know what I was talking about. She has papers and the medical record for the ear crop and they gave me the breeders card. sigh* I called them and left my number and no answer but the website left me with the impression of byb/mill. :( Also one of her parents was white I think but the site only had one picture of the dobies and it looked like a really dirty enviroment. I adore her and am soo happy I can give her a good home and all the attention she needs but I'm a little worried about how effective training will be at 8 months. apparently "my trained" and the last owners "trained" is completely different. she doesnt even know sit. soo with lots of work cut out for us I'm looking forward to a very long and happy relationship with my new dobie!

Oh my... that breeder.

Anyways, a dog can learn at any age. People adopt older shelter dogs and those dogs integrate into the new family just fine. I have a friend who trains her dog in agility - she adopted it from a shelter at the age of two, I think. They'll bond just as well as a puppy too.

yeah 4 at least and all ratty dogs. but don't worry i wasn't under the impression that she was from fine breeding. But she needed a good home just as much as one that is. Also she was never spayed (big clue there) so at least we know one puppy that isn't going to continue any undesirable genes. lol I'll post pics asap. as for her owners they're big breeders too. people breeders. :p

Why are the current owners rehoming her? Is any money going to the "lovely" people doing the breeding? Are you aware of the issues involved with owning a dilute (I'm guessing this girl is a blue?) Doberman?

From a BYB to CL to you, don't expect much in the way of "health testing", if they knew the vWD status I'd be shocked. That being said, I didn't know that about my rescues either, somethings are a crapshoot, but you need to know what you are getting into and if you can handle it. If this dog isn't healthy, or isn't temperamentally sound, are you in it for the long haul or just another pair of hands she will pass through?
