| | MOATS | Reminder RE: PA Licensing / Inspections A kennel is defined as any establishment in or through which at least 26 dogs* are kept or transferred in a calendar year, or a boarding kennel. *Note, this does not mean 26 dogs at one time, but in total over the course of a calendar year.
I urge puppy buyers looking to purchase a puppy from a breeder in PA (Pennsylvania) to check the database, especially if it is known that there are multiple litters per year.
If a breeder / kennel is not found in the database but should be, the complaint form for an unlicensed kennel can be found here: PA Dog Law Complaint Form

| Why do some breeders do them so long now? I like the nub... Not a fan of what I have seen lately. When I look at historical photos of the Doberman the tail is short, not long... |

| | MOATS | It would probably be best to discuss tail docking lengths / preferences in a different thread so we can keep this one focused on kennel licensing / inspections.

| Keep in mind that's the inspection for the boarding portion, the breeding portion of Kimbertal is a separate license, and it's worth noting that the breeding license is for 501 or MORE dogs, are you kidding me???? Think about that, FIVE HUNDRED DOGs, I barely keep up with the three I have....
Anyways, the breeding side of Kimbertal hasn't been 'inspected' since 4/11/11; I wonder why? Perhaps I will write the nice people at the kennel inspection and ask.... Quote:
General Rules of Licensure:
Any person who keeps or operates a kennel shall, on or before January 1 of each year, apply to the department for a Kennel License. A kennel is defined as any establishment in or through which at least 26 dogs are kept or transferred in a calendar year, or a boarding kennel. Kennels shall be classified by type and the fee for the license shall be determined by kennel type, the number of dogs housed, kept, harbored, boarded, sheltered, sold, given away or transferred in or by the kennel. A separate license shall be required for each type of kennel and every location at which a kennel is kept or operated. When two or more licensed kennels are operated by the same person at the same location, each kennel shall be inspected and licensed. Kennel license applications must be renewed annually and applications must be received by January 1. All kennel licenses expire on December 31 of each calendar year.

But, Anne says they are not a puppymill.

| Mass production of dogs is worse than a puppymill. Call it what you will but it is what it is.
That many dogs can not be socialized and are "things" for money. Just ridiculous but as long as people buy dogs that support them. Money is the botom line, so sad. |
