| Need help finding a breeder in or near NC Hello, I have been looking for a breeder for awhile. I came upon this website and most of the breeders that I found this site tells me to stay away from. Does anyone know of any good breederd in or near NC that are in a decent price range? How much can I expect to pay for a good dobie? |

Schohaus or Goldgrove both in the Charlotte area would be worth checking out.
Pricing ranges from $1200 - sky's the limit. :- )
If you are looking for a pet figure around $1500 - $2000

| Thank you. I had looked at Hungs Iron Kennel but this site told me to stay away they are a pup mill. I talked to Family Dobies but they wanted $2500+$450 shipping and thats just a little out of my price range. |

When looking for a breeder, make sure you see current health testing for Hips, eyes (CERF/PRA/PHPv), Dilated Cardiomyopathy (Echo/Holter), and vWD. The breeder should also be able to give you information on various illnesses that cannot be tested for such as Copper Toxicosis/Chronic Active Hepatitis, Wobbler's Syndrome/CVI and Pano.
Good luck with your search!
Edit: Iron & Family Dobes are definitely breeders to avoid like the plague. Places like these are only in it for the money at the end of the day.

| I have a Gold Grove boy and couldn't be happier with him. He is a very loving dog with an amazing temperament. Very easy to live with. Sharon has been very supportive and has always been there to answer questions. I would expect to pay around $2,000 for a nice pet quality puppy. Stay away from Family Dobes. Even if Gold Grove does not have a litter, I would imagine they could direct you to another reputable breeder who does. |

Who is the dam and sire of your boy? I have a girl from Ava, and a boy from Puckett...both from Goldgrove. |

| There are some great breeders in our state... I suggest you follow the link Casandra has posted; that should be a good starting point for your search. There are some upcoming shows in the area where you might run across breeders, or at least owers/exhibitors who have experience with particular breeders. Good luck! |

| My girl's sire is from Talladega Dobermans in NC. He's a wonderful, gorgeous, multi-talented boy.

| I have a Hung's Boy and could not be any happier with him. Jordan the breeder is very knowledgeable about his dogs and loves them greatly. I will probably buy from him again in the future. |

| While I'm sure everyone is happy that you are enjoying your dog, Hung's is not a reputable or responsible kennel. Please spend some time educating yourself on the practices of responsible breeders before supporting them again.

| You could probably just go to their website and look around and see what everyone is up in arms about. The dogs live out in pens in dirt with dog houses up on stilts. They are very poor quality and most are extremely obese. They appear to have LOTS of "breeding" dogs, all pretty much look the same. Poor condition to say the least.
I would guess there is no health testing of any kind being done. He brags about dogs well over 100 lbs, says they are not fat, but look at the pictures. I've not seen fatter dogs in a while!
Just take a look at his site and that will tell you all you need to know. |

| | Big Pup | Well, I have seen the website but I have also been to his home. While it's not the Hilton I have most definitely seen worse. I was just curious as to what specifically is being done wrong. I am new to researching this breed so things you guys consider to be a travesty to the breed I simply may not possess the expertise to notice especially as the only pure bred dogs I own or have owned have all been rescues just like my mutts. His dogs appear to be in good health and (I admit I wasn't specifically looking for this) did not see any that appeared fat at least when I have been there.
I have been wanting to get a puppy from him for years since the first time I went there and am trying to find information specific to his dogs and hopefully from other Doberman people with experience with his dogs so I will be able to make as fully informed of a decision as I can.
Again, tyvm for any comments given and ty jdd for yours. |

| | Big Pup | Ty, greenkouki. I will take a look at this as soon as I get home. I will also try to search the boards and other sites for as many answers to my questions as I can. If I have further questions about Hung's or otherwise would it be preferable for me to create a new thread or continue my questions here?
Thanks. |
