Red face Need help finding Doberman

Hello everyone I'm very new to this site and Dobermans so bare with me . I use to date a girl that had a Doberman it was also a service dog but more of a pet. I fell in love with the breed and dog. Ever since then I have wanted one. I know very little about them but have had dogs before. I know the basics about the breed and there needs. I don't know enough about what breeder to go with or what to look for. I want a male European Doberman. I plan on getting it bite trained or any other training you recommend. I want the dog to be at its top potential. I do construction so the dog will be with me all the time. I want the dog to be of good health and free of everything. I would like for it to be from show blood or working blood. I dont want to get scammed or support someone with bad practice or unhealthy dogs or pay to much. I would like to also have breeding rights as well although I would probably never breed for its a great responsibility. I'm from Boston but am willing to ship dog from anywhere or over seas. I have looked into breeder in the US and over seas but I don't know enough. Any help would be greatly appreciated for I have wanted one for a long time and would love to find a companion. So thank you and look forward to hearing what you have for me.

Welcome and I would go to the United Doberman club web site and check out the breeders there if you are wanting a dog for IPO. As far as free of everything there is no way any one can guarantee a dog is free of half the stuff that can be a problem. Good breeders have developed a line, know the working ability and health behind the dog and health test to try to stack the deck in your favor. Call the breeders in UDC as you will learn a lot and have a much better chance of getting a good puppy as opposed to trying to import. Don't be fooled by the guys who have beautiful web sites and show multiple dogs with multiple titles earned over seas as they are functioning as a puppy broker and have no real experience with the dogs in question for the most part except the look good on paper.

If you want to meet some breeders here our Club is hosting the 2017 UDC Nationals here in Missouri - it is a long trip for you but you would be welcome to come meet some of us and see Dobermans in action!!! There is a thread on here with all the info on the upcoming nationals if you have any interest.

Good luck in finding your perfect puppy--the UDC is a good place to start looking.

About "having it bite trained"--you may want to reconsider that--Dobes are great deterants without being bite trained and many insurance companies will not write policies for homeowers, rentors or liability if a "bite trained dog is involved, and boarding facilities often will not accept a bite trained dog.

Just a FYI on bite training..
