I DLS personally recommend the following breeders: Botrina, Gatehouse, Promise/Olympia, Rauschund, Wittrock, and I will add others as I check them out. SOme I know personally others I just LOVE their dogs. Even though I may like them it does not mean that potential puppy buyers should not check them out for themselves. As some here have said, it seems we only list the ones who we do not approve of, and we should continue to do so, but I think both should be discussed.

Well, as a totally novice Dobe owner, I'll personally have to add:
Sherluck/Faye and Gary Strauss. Faye is an AKC judge as well and they've bred 100+ CH over the past 30 years I think.

Wingate Dobermans/Jody Huston is the owner of FiFi's Dam and has produced 40+ CH as well as put several obedience titles on her dogs.

Both Faye and Jody are my mentors (geez what fantastic mentors to have, lol). They've totally opened their minds, homes and hearts to me and my family, being the novice Dobe owners that we are. Jody "let me have a great puppy" because she liked the family the pup was going to, not because we were going to show. We didn't know at the time, I think she really didn't evaluate the pup, because of us.
They have made this new "hobby" of mine so much fun, and I learn something new every day through them.

Emerald Dobermans/Cathy Ceely (Tosca on this board) ..... I'm really just starting to get to know Cathy I feel. I don't know much about her breeding program, but as a novice owner ring side, she's been friendly, welcoming and supporting. She does so many other things with her dogs too, agility and obedience, AND has a great sense of humor about when her dogs don't "perform".

Colorado Dobes already mentioned Starlaine/Elaine Hopper.

Disclamer: These are my personal opinions and experiences. There may be people who see it differently.

I don't have personal experience with any breeders except Gorrmae, but I would definitely recommend Lori. She has produced many good dogs, including Red's brother Reggie who is mere points away from his championship at only 17 months old. Great breeder and great dogs, imo :)

I have had similar experiences as Sorthund on a couple of her references!

I had a good experience with Jody and Wingate Dobermans. I felt that she was very supportive of my dogs when I did performance work with them.

Also I know how much care Cathy Ceely / Emerald Dobermans puts into her litters. (Not to mention helping others) I know she stands behind her dogs 100% As competitive as she is, (a quality I love in a professional handler) she loves all her dogs for who they are.

Talent Dobermans is also definately worth looking at. Jessica is great.
She does not breed very often, but I know her boy has been used at stud. In fact I think he has a litter on the ground with Montwood / Arista. (They have produced a LOT of top agility dogs)

While I think most breeder's mentioned in this thread are very good, I will just comment on those who I've had dogs from or know well on a personal basis. Good breeder's IMO, not only breed good healthy dogs with longevity but are there for you for the life of the dog. I would highly recommend Cathy Ceely-Emerald Dobermans, Mike and Renee Holth-Royalwood Dobermans, Sue Lynch-Stardust Dobermans and Bonnie Wittrock-Wittrock Dobermans. None of these breeder's breed very frequently but have good dogs and are always there for the puppy buyer's. They also all have been in the breed for many years and all have vast knowledge.

I'll have to add Lothlorien - Bunny Lanning, although she breeds maybe one litter every 2 or so years.
Adamas, Elizabeth Barrett is a very nice person to deal with and I have spoken with her on several occasions at agility trials.
Perfex, Michelle Perfect has lovely dogs. Shoot, I know there are more that haven't been brought up that are escaping me ATM.

The breeder I got my puppy from was amazing. Being a newbie she took tons of time to explain everything to us. The name is Regency - Sherry George - located in Nova Scotia, Canada. As far as I could research, she was the only registered breeder in the province. She only breeds every couple of years, so I was very lucky to get one of her pups :)

I was originally after a Tazzman Doberman because they were working on threapy dog specific lines and had the top notch local reputation where an AKC person on phone dared suggest finding them.. They are retired as of 2009! Waahhhh!

Had a girl in CO with a maybe soon litter. But not in a schedule to help my purpose.

They used the local big show dog line Lemill a lot in their programs.

Doberman people I have met and liked here in Georgia:

I currently own a girl from Goldgrove, Sharon Pflueger, NC
She showed in conformation, and I am doing obedience and agility with her currently. Have helped with GG house dogs on occasion.

This group:
Like their dogs, seem to be nice people I have chatted with personally, but have not owned one of their dogs. These are people I would inquire further with if I was a puppy buyer. I have not been to their home/kennel. These are mainly conformation people....Adamas is also really into agility/ Casino's foundation male was from Cara, I think he lived to be 15?
Alpha, Susanne Smith, Florida
Mikadobe, Doris Molin, Georgia
Adamas, Elizabeth Barrett, Georgia
Casino, Janice Myers, Virginia

Owned one from their line a long time ago:
Scudamore, Janet Skidmore NC
I had a sweet, very laid back pet quality red boy. Not enough working drives in this particular dog for me, not really the body style I like now, but a sweet family companion. He got his CD. I have no idea what this breeder is doing now, but she was very nice and supportive when I had my boy.

I have only listed people I have had personal contact with. As posted, I have not seen the living conditions of them all, except at dog shows. From the ones I have seen, they live like kings when traveling!

I have been looking @ kansa...they seem awesome to me, but noone mentioned them. Any opinions?
Doug and Jacque Matson of Kansa Dobes are good people that raise nice quality dogs. A friend of mine bought a male puppy from them this spring, and she couldn't be happier with him - he's gorgeous, healthy and very outgoing. They health test their dogs, show successfully in conformation and work at putting titles on both ends. Proper Doberman temperament is important to them, and I know that Doug just put a BH on one of his bitches. I like that they have been combing European and American lines, and have still had success in the breed ring.

I think that Kansa is good place to buy a Doberman from, but be prepared to answer a lot of questions. They are thorough in their screening process, as they should be.
