| | Lil Pup | Breeder Recomendations in Minnesota Hi, I am looking to get a companion pup in early August and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on breeders in the Minnesota, Wisconsin, or Iowa areas. Also, does anyone know of any quality breeders that would have litters available in August and be willing to ship pup? Thanks. |

| | Big Dog | I live in MN and was recently doing the whole researching thing. Here's what I found out. There are no good, reputable breeders in MN. Here are the ones that were recommended to me: MOA's Everafter kennel (Margarita Files) in WI, Abadie (Barbara Lankford) in WI, Jaimand (Mandy Bondy) in ND, and Bruda (Sandra Hunter) in IL. Jaimand is expecting a litter mid-august and I believe MOA is expecting a litter early-aug...so they won't be ready to go until late Sept/Oct.
I recently got my beautiful pup from Bruda a few weeks ago, my first dobe, she's wonderful! I don't think Bruda is expecting another litter until end of the year. Good luck in your search! Let me know if you have any further questions! |

| smwozniak. please don't 'expect' to find a pup by August. It seems when people set a date to find a pup that they tend to choose the first one that comes along. BIG mistake. Good that you are here asking for help to find one though. But as the old saying goes "good things come to those who wait". Sometimes it takes up to a year to find the right breeder and then the right pup.
Have you considered giving a home to a rescued Dobie? |

| Here is a good place to start you search. Breeder Referral - Official DPCA Breeder Referral Directory
After you find a litter come back here and ask about the breeder before you commit. Just because a breeder belongs to the DPCA does not guarentee they are good breeders.
Also it may take you quiet a while to find a good breeder with a litter so be very patient. Read this example of what happens when you get in a hurry. Should I be concerned????? |

| I know of a nice litter in Missouri that will be ready around the end of July. I posted pictures of them earlier this month. I think they have red females available. Ears will be done July 1st. |

| I second the fact there are no good breeders in MN. Please stay away from what you find on the internet, even if they are DPCA members.
I got to "meet" (not formally) some of the MN breeders (if you can call them that) at the show last weekend. Although some of the dogs were pretty I would NEVER support those people.

Not sure if newtodobes got her breeder list from me or not, but those are typically the breeders that I recommend, along with a few other in WI and Illinois.
There are a couple of local breeders with slick websites - please, please, please don't get sucked in by a nice website. Not every good breeder has a website, and not every website is operated by a reputable breeder.
If you have any questions about a specific MN breeder, please send me a PM and I will tell you everything that I know. Just today, I was sent an email from somebody that is having temperament problems with their Aruff Doberman, and not getting a response from the breeder. And King's Ransom is pumping out litter after litter of puppies with Demodectic mange. We took in 2 of their dogs in the past 2 months - one of them was almost totally bald from mange, and is also clinically vWD Affected. Another local all-breed shelter got 3 Dobes from KR that were also almost completely bald from mange. They're all from different litters. I have the pictures, emails and pedigrees to prove it.
I haven't bought one of my personal dogs from a MN breeder since 1995. All of the good ones stopped breeding.
