| | Lil Pup | Should I be concerned????? Hello all,
I am new to this site and I need some advice. My boyfriend and I decided to get a puppy after we bought a new town house together and after researching different breeds we fell in love with the doberman. After checking out the DPCC for breeders we wrote several and some breeders weren't comfortable shipping their pups due to heat and not being able to meet us in person, which I repect but of course its disappointing. I got an email from a breeder in Ont. who had a nice website and wrote me this long email about them and their dogs which sounded great and they had puppies available. I was excited and asked to see pics of the puppies in which he replied he would send in a few days but they require a 500.00 deposit to hold a pup for me and he would let me know as soon as the deposit arrived. Well I was anxious and sent a cheque the next day and wrote him back with all my contact info and reminded him again that I want to see pics and know a bit more about the parents. Well a week later my cheque was cashed no reply back from the breeder so we began calling and leaving messages, no anwser , I wrote emails and no response so finally 8 days later I get a voicemail from him saying the pups are good but this is a process we take one step at atime, well jeeze I have yet to see pics of the pups and I have a ton of questions that are going unanswered and I can never get in touch with this guy, so I am stressed out. Thats my story sorry for babbling, please help me!!!! |

| Tell him what your require, and that you need it immediately. If it was me I would demand an immediate refund based on lack of follow through and communication. If you still want to take a chance (I would not) then get what you demand which is- First and foremost pics of the puppies. Second regular communication or in either case
1) you contact authorities
2) You post information about them and their practises on every Dobe website available. |

if your in the usa,i would contact your bank as most have a reinstated funds policy of some sort. state you did not get what you paid for,and sign a paper and it most commonly comes back in your account. if you sent it to a private party, this may or may not work, but its worth a try,if you sent a money order...you got screwed. i never buy online unless they use paypal wich is insured/protected from fraud. sorry you got hit.

| | Lil Pup | Well thanks for your honest opinions, this is terrible I doubt he'll give us a refund but of course I'll try. Its frustrating though because you think your dealing with a reputable person and this the treatment you get. Now I am discouraged in my puppy search |

| | Alpha | I don't know about Canada, but here in the U.S. I have heard of several people this has happened to over the years, and the people who had the determination to follow through resolved it through the U.S. postal service, because if a person receives money through the mail and does not deliver goods that were paid for in said manner, that is mail fraud.
My gut feeling is that your outlook is not good, but I would definitely research what your options are from a legal standpoint and pursue those options vigoroously. Sorry to hear of your unfortunate series of events, and I wish you the best.
Edit: I have to agree with Rosamburg. If someone did that to me, I would be the bane of their existence, and everyone who would listen would know who those ppl are. Who are they btw ? |

| I know on most advertising sites that there are scammers. It's a huge market on advertising sites and basically buyer beware. My best advise is to only purchase a puppy or dog that you can physically see and hold. It is the only way to tell that #1 you aren't getting scammed and #2 where/how the parents are kept and the litter itself. Not to mention checking the parents for all the health tests and everything else.
My best advise is not to be too anxious to purchase a puppy. The right one will come along.

What is the web site that you've been looking on? I'm in Ontario, and I'm interested in knowing who these people are. Besides, I'm heading to Nova Scotia next week and may be able to assist with transport.
