| | Big Pup | Met breeder, BelMar, at Dog Show yesterday I am a newbie here...looking for my first Dobe and going VERY slow at this.
I attended a Dog Show in Indiana yesterday and met a few people after introducing myself.
I met a person who's kennel is BelMar Dobermans. She seemed very open and has been breeding Dobes for quite sometime. She was showing a beautiful Red 6 month old boy. Very mature looking from what I could see for a puppy.
She told me that one of her dogs is from South America and has lots of titles.
Couldn't remember if it was the sire to this pup or not.
Please forgive me if I can't provide more information but this is all new to me and the dog and titles were a bit much for me to absorb at this time. I'm still learning and most of it went over my head...:-) I did take photos but unfortunately none of the Dobes..it was raining and I forgot my camera in the car.
Can you tell me what you think of Prisicilla Bell of BelMar?? I am trying to be careful and do my homework first.
I also got a lead to a show coming up in July at Waukesha, Wisc and told that I would met a lot of Doberman breeders there so I am planning on going.

| Did you already search the forums?
(I only came up with your thread, but I am kinda a lousy searcher.)
Couple things jumped out at me from their website, which it does say is under construction, so maybe the info isn't up to date, but.
She's already standing the dog, and his health test results aren't in yet.
Other than that, from the pedigrees listed, also looks like possibly there is an emphasis on titled sires, but not so much dams.
Not sure how that ranks and not sure what exactly you are looking for in a Dobe, so, grain of salt.
I personally, if I ever buy another Dobe, instead of taking in rescues, will want to see TT, obedience titles, therapy dogs, etc, in the pedigrees--but that speaks to the kind of Dobe temperament I'm looking for, in the lines.

| I do not personally know BelMar Dobes, but, I recognize the kennel name so she must have been involved with the breed for some time. Just don't limit yourself to coosing the first breeder you talk to. Check out as many of them as you can. As RedFawnRising asks. 'what type of Dobie are you wanting?' You need to know exactly what you want in a Dobie before you will have any chance of finding the right breeder and the right Dobe for you. |

I plan on attending a Specialty show up in Waukesha, WI the end of July. I was told I would be able to see a lot of dogs and meet many breeders there.
Got my fingers crossed....
