...Should i asked to be placed on a waiting list for a puppy? There are two breeders i am interested in (i'm still not positive which one i want to choose) that should be having breedings later this year. I have been in contact with both. Both breeders seem fantastic, but i feel i should be making my decision soon.

I guess this depends how "in demand" the puppies from this litter may be, and how interested you are in either one of these particular litters. The lists may fill up quickly. For instance, Bonnie Wittrock in Oregon is expecting a litter later this year, and I wouldn't be surprised if her list is already full, as it seems this is a much anticipated litter.
Also, if you're looking for a show prospect, I'd get on a waiting list sooner than later.
Could you not be put on both waiting lists for the time being? You can always back out. I was not asked to put down a deposit until 2 weeks after the litter was born, but of course every breeder is different. Just go with your gut Good luck!

I would make sure both breeders are aware that you are will be on both of their lists. I'm sure they will have no problem with it, but it's always good to be up front about it.
