| StrikerFire Doberman I was checking out a Doberman advertised for sale in my area. They said he was from StrikerFire Kennels. So I googled them. I had not realized how many Doberman Kennels in Canada are overproducing dogs. They have 8 litters advertised for this year alone! They also breed all 5 colors. No wonder there are so many Doberman ending up in rescue and shelters. |

| Yeah I know... I check out the classifieds, online and print (Toronto Star and Sun) some of the things I read makes my skin crawl. I remember reading an advert in the star for a 13 month old Dobe being used as stud. So I called the person up, pretending to be interested and I asked a bunch of questions about health testing, titles etc... He pretty much laughed at me, acting like I was some kind of idiot for even asking him. He even bragged about how he has used his barely over a year male 20 times at stud, he even said he bred to Golden Retrievers, because some people want hybrids. The kicker to this little story... his male has mild HD and is a bleeder.

| strikefire is in the same caliber as Strays, another "greeder" on the dpcc radar, unfortunately the club has no power to do anything about them.

| how can the club gain more power to do something about breeders like this? I find so many pups up for sale from breeders like this and it just infuriates me.

None of which has any type of power. The only thing they can do is deny membership if a key feature of membership criteria is violated or not met.
Shutting breeders down or controlling them can only be done by the SPCA or local bylaw enformcement if the breeder is violating any laws or failing to take are of their dogs. If they have food, water, and shelter, are in compliance with any numbers or housing regualtions, then there is nothing that can be done. |

We need to be deligent in letting newbies know what to look for when purchasing a pup, and we need to be vocal about it, that's why I took on the task of organizing a booth at the sportsman show this year, it was only 2 days but we did get a message out to a lot of prospective owners and opened the eyes on a number who had already purchased from bybs without realizing it.

| | Alpha | Caelestis, just to pick your brain :-)
what would you suggest doing for a national club for a breeder who advertises on their website that they belong to said club, when they do not. They have been asked to remove their claim. They haven't or won't.
Pretty frustrating, but thanks to members on here (frank P) and their investigations and research such things come to our attention.
This person was asked over a year ago apparently to remove the reference and did not.
That' ticks me off!!!!
