| A Sad Time For Aus Breeders IMO it is a very sad time for Dobe breeders and exhibitors in Australia now.
Recent Breed Legislation dictates that docking is illegal except for specific medical reasons only.
Many breeders are leaving as they have been forced into changing the look of their dogs and losing interest from prospective purchasers as well.
I love my "house of Dobe" and it is very sad that we have another right taken away from us as Dobe owners.
I would be interested in hearing your perspective on this...... |

| I may be wrong they say dogs with uncropped ears do not get ear infections like dogs with cropped ears do. I do not find that to be true even cleaning the ears like you are suppose to I think dogs with cropped ears get less infections. |

| Come on don't be sad, a dobe still stay a dobe, look at europe, they have tails and ears and everyone is used to it, I have dobes now with tails and ears, and if I may made a choice I sure would choose for ears and tails.
Try to make it positive instead of negative! |

| IMHO, if people get out of the breed because the tails can't be docked anymore, they shouldn't have been in the breed to begin with.

| It's just a tail?? Granted I love that Mocha doesn't have one as her nub is constantly going and it would knock everything over at tail height but it wouldn't stop me from getting a dobe.... I do feel it should be a choice but alas people feel the need to take choices away. I hope people can get past it and still love the breed for what's inside. |

| Why don't these governments start banning puppy mills... oh yeah that would actually require work. So much easier to ban cropping/docking and satisfy those PETA nuts.

DobeAus, all you have to do is take a look at elly's dobes - they are GORGEOUS! |

I would be interested in hearing your perspective on this...... | I think cropping/docking is a matter best left to be decided by breeders and their vets. It's unfortunate that this is something being legislated in a lot of places, as far as I'm concerned a sad reflection on the times and the mentality becoming the norm.
I just read in an article the other day that doberman registrations in Australia have dropped something like 75%, directly due to the new ban on docking.
I'm sure it's only a matter of time before c/d becomes illegal here in the US. As I've said before, I DID NOT sign on for hanging ears and long tails, most especially those tails. Couldn't handle it.

| docking has been illegal in the uk now for about a year !!
dobes are still selling well, if anything happened to my 2, i would get a dobe again tail and all.. its the dobe personality that makes a dobe NOT the tail and ears !! |

great point about puppy mills contrasted with law abiding citizens performing cropping on there animals. |
