| Good breeders in NC, SC, GA, TN, or VA??? I've been researching breeders and my head is swimming! Does anyone already know breeders they can recommend or strongly discourage in the states I named in the subject line? I'm in NC and I want to visit the kennel so don't want to get too far from home. We aren't planning to get a puppy until probably next year but we want to research now in case there is a waiting list Thanks!!

| | Alpha | What do you want a puppy for ? Would you like a puppy to show (AKC conformation), to work (schutzhund), or just a perfect family pet and nothing more ? |

| I don't want to show or breed, just a pet. That being said though, my husband wants her to look like she could be shown LOL He likes the more muscular looking ones, but not overgrown (I've already explained to him that I refuse to get one that is intentionally bred too large). We also both like the ones with the more broad heads, I've seen some that had some really skinny faces and the top of their heads came to a point. My husband has dreamed of getting a dog from House of Hoytt for a decade now, so that tells you the look he likes. I have read some bad reviews of them lately though so we won't be getting one from them. So all of that to say, we want a wonderful family pet who is also strikingly gorgeous LOL Oh, and I am more into holistics and raw feeding so if I find a breeder that feels the same, that's a bonus although not a necessity

| House of Hoytt is a freaking puppy mill, do not buy a dog from them. I can help you out finding a reputable breeder in this area as I live 10 minutes from you. You have a couple good choices nearby. I will help u. |

Check this DPCA site out for breeders in the areas you are interested in; however, just because they are on this site does not guarentee they are good breeders.
Be sure to return here for more information on the breeders you might decide to purchase a puppy from. Breeder Referral - Official DPCA Breeder Referral Directory |

Tara | Stay away from Harraden's Dobie den. Thats one of the worst puppy mills in the state of NC. Her breeding practices are all centered around making profit off the dogs. Way to many dogs, not enough health testing. |

| Lindsey (Dobegirl07) will be a great asset to you. You live close and she can point you into the direction of breeders in your area. I know she is also a member of the Doberman Club of Charlotte. Maybe you could go to a meeting or to a local show and meet some of the breeders in your area.
Good luck!

| I'm in Raleigh, NC and in a similar boat. My last dog was a magnificent looking 95 lb red from a byb (been one myself), but he died from cardiomiyopathy just before his 10th birthday. I've also had one pup that ran a highly pedigreed German dog around the owner's farm until he died of heart failure, so I can't say whether it's a crap shoot or not. Still I'd like to hear from others. |
