| I dont see the difference between a "puppy mill" and a "commercial breeder" both pump out mass amounts of dogs, for profit, no regards to where the pups are going, just the highest bidder.
I that, Lawman, you should have noticed how VERY different the opinions of many on here are.
But the one thing they all have in common is they are here for the betterment of their dogs, they care deeply for this breed and want only the best.
Lets say that Kimbertal cut their number of brood bitches in half and only used 1 or 2 studs, got them fully health tested and only did one litter per year per bitch, had a better process for screening their potential buyers, and didnt have puppies always available, and when a dog of thiers came to rescue they came to pick them all up regardless.
I think that would earn them an ounce more respect than they are getting on here.
The problem is they are looking at these puppies as merchandise and not as a living creature. |

| Quoted from Lawman:I have viewed many of the dogs herein and some to me look almost mixed breed with sheppard mix like faces and narrow skinny heads .....not the dogs I have known for over 30 years. They are never the less beautiful animals just not what I and obviously many others do not prefer. You all are convinced you maintain the breed as it was created by Herr Dobermann ... my friends in Europe do not agree. Who is to say who is correct ?? Both are entrenched in their OPINION but opinion does not make you RIGHT. I side with my freinds overseas as that is where the breed began.....who knows I could be wrong but I surely will not attack you PERSONALLY for your belief but I will criticize rude, snobby behavior which is what I have witnessed on this site
Lawman....I'm not sure what head pictures you looked at....the dogs of DT come from anywhere and everywhere....BYB's, Greeders,Puppy Mills, Europe, Canada, America, Pets, Show dogs, Working dogs, Agility dogs etc....Some are Champions in show, work, others just in our hearts..... DT is not what you think. We are here to help each other learn more about the breed we ALL love so much. Not too many of us have show dogs.....so again I'm really not sure what you are talking about. The few male/female dogs here on DT with or working on their AM Championships in confirmation do not have skinny heads or bodies.

I know that some on-line forums help to pay the costs of running the forum by letting ads pop up - the problem is that you can't control which ads - so you end up getting some pretty awful ones. I personally just ignore the ads because I understand the need for the owner to reduce the cost of having the forum itself.
I've never seen any ads on Doberman Talk
I also have to make a comment about maintaining the breed that Herr Dobermann created - none of us maintain that first Doberman - including your "friends" in Europe. It was a much smaller dog with a double coat - the breed continued to evolve through other breeders - not Herr Dobermann - he apparently did not maintain any kind of written records about what breeds he used - so no-one can say with 100% certainty what exactly made up the modern day Doberman. The breed standard increased in size several times during the early years. If we still had the breed as Herr Dobermann first developed it we would all have much smaller dogs

| | Alpha | Kimbertal I guess I'm glad someone directed me to this site as we were planning on going to see dobes this weekend at Kimbertal.
If anyone knows of someone or breeder who has puppies for sale (pet quality) - please let me know.
We are looking for a male - black/rust or blue in color.
I would rescue one but my husband is just very very leary as we have an 11 year old son and he would rather the pup grow up with my son so they can "bond".........
We've had small dogs and I've ALWAYS and FOREVER wanted a doberman. I'm finally getting one!!!!!!
Thank you, |

| I think that when you become a supporter (bronze, silver, or gold), the ads don't show up for you. I don't see ads either, but I used to before I became a bronze supporter.
