| | Big Dog | Del Litorio is an Italian Kennel with good dogs I think. Here in Europe you hear a lot of them. In my opinion in the USA Cara's are good working dogs...at least Cara's red Sasha is..she is owned by Ludeck from Checheslovakya(I don't know if I spelled it right) He became IDC world champion with her in Munich a few years ago. I don't know the adress of the website but if you google with Cara's dobes I'm sure you will find the homepage |

| I'd recommend del Littorio and Cara's. More Cara's though.

| | Big Dog | Cara's topshelf owned by John Soares is also a good working dog...he competed under the USA flag but I believe he lives in Italy.
Another American top workingdog in my opinion is or was Miss Jackoso Agir owned by James Henderson. |

| Del Littorio Hi - Our Dobes are from Del Littorio, in Snohomish, Washington. Roberto Zorzi, who is originally from Italy, and moved to USA about 10 or 12 years ago, is a very serious and devoted Doberman afficionado. He breeds beautiful, truly elegant and bright and incredible temperament dogs. He shows all over the world, and he is a respected Doberman judge. He does confirmation, as well as Schutzhund. He has an amazing eye for Doberman structure.
In my opinion, he was a bit old-fashioned in his attitude about full disclosure of health issues, and perhaps this has changed. He poo-poo'ed our requests for health test results, and since we really loved his dogs, and he seemed so sincere and indignant that we would question his integrity, that we went forward with getting pupies from him - twice. I don't see any current info on new litters. Our dogs are all vWD carriers, and 3 of them have significant clotting issues, though not full-blown von Willebrands. Alex died of dilated cardiomyopathy at age 6. In this day and age, with DNA testing so readily available, and the true potential to virtually wipe many genetic disorders out once and for all (maybe not totally realistic, but certainly theoretically, through responsible pairings), one would think that any true devotee and champion of our wonderful breed - (or any breed, or humans, for that matter!) would do whatever they could to avoid pairings that link 2 carriers of a condition - no matter how beautiful they might be together - - - the betterment of the breed is NOT just confirmation, but health, longevity, temperament, personality and intelligence. While we still just drool over Roberto's artistic eye, we have come to feel very strongly that frank, open, proactive communication between breeders and potential buyers is mandatory. I want to know how long the grandparents and greatgrandparents lived! I wanted my Alex around for at least 6 or 8 more years - and I know for sure that he wanted the same thing! Breeding dogs that will only have a 5 or 6 year life span is, to me, not OK. Lois |

And Agir Miss Jackoso, yes, was owned by Butch Henderson of Liberty. (Agir is the grandfather of my next dog...pick up in 6 weeks...can't contain my excitement...sorry, back to your regularly scheduled thread). |

| | Alpha | I think the thing with Ray CArlisle is consistency. Not only does Ray produce a lot of nice working dogs, that are generally healthy and fairly good looking, he produces them consistently. Bear in mind he is not the only breeder in the U.S. to do this, but he certainly does stand out in everybody's mind. |
