I had people who waited for close to a year for my litter and of course had no guarantee that there would be a puppy for them. I'm planning another litter for spring/summer 2009 and already have enquiries - that is pretty common.
I would have a hard time waiting for a dog for a year or more.... but since I have mulitiple dogs I'm never dogless - and that helps!
Maybe you could offer to foster for a local rescue while you are waiting

The time really has flown by too, and I've thoroughly enjoyed being there for every step. Somehow I feel even more involved in my puppy's life this way, and every update brings new excitement. Quote:

| i am more than excited. My entire life i wanted a doberman but my parents told me it would've been them taking care of the dog and not me. I guess they were right. Now that i'm done with college I feel I will have adequate time to attend to his needs. CANT WAIT! |

| Welcome I just recently got a 13 month old male and he was neutered a week ago. I feed him Orijen, although I have used Canidae with other dobes and had good results with it. |

| you're doing good by waiting. I'm waiting a long time for mine, but if you take your time you'll find a quality pup. Even if you have to wait months its better than getting an unhealthy, or poorly bred pup now.

He was well worth the wait....and for the rest of my life....all my dogs will be compared to him.

To the OP::: Like everyone has said, waiting for the right puppy is the thing to do. Until then get ready.. a Dobe pup is a life-changing event. hehe

| two month wait is nothing... i spent over a year doing research, learning about the breed, looking for breeders, then waited about 6 months for the litter to be born, then another 2 before lexx could come home. Feel lucky that you can get a pup from a great breeder in that time frame.
in the meantime, plan and prepare, buy things for the puppy, try to observe some training places around you to decide where you want to go, maybe look around and agility places or whatever you're interested to. talk to friends with pets to find a good vet...
oh! and catch up on sleep and alone time ( after you get the pup you won't even be able to go to the bathroom alone!!)
goodluck!!!
