Desta/Bellawood Dobermans?

I am looking to get a Doberman within the next 1-3 years and in doing hours (seriously, hours) of research sorting through the DPCA Breeder Referral, I sorted through probably 90% of the pages on there (the ones within a day's worth of driving) and found Bellawood/Desta Dobermans in Gloucester, VA. I already spoke with one of the owners and she seems very nice and like she'd be very helpful. I tried to find negative feedback about her via Google, but came up short. If anyone knows anything (good or bad) about that establishment, please write back.

Desta's been around for some time. i like breeders who have been involved with this breed for many years. Experience and knowledge, can only be gained with years of involvment in the breed. If you felt a connection with them I say check into them further, go visit them and meet their dogs.
Puppies are great, but have you ever considered looking into giving a rescue Dobe a home?

Yes I have thought about it quite extensively because I have a rescue dog right now (a terrier sort of mixation) and I love him to death but the connection isn't the same as the one I have with my other dog, whom I've had since the beginning.

That is not to say that I don't want to EVER rescue any Dobermans. I do. I want to save the lives of as many Dobermans/animals as humanly possible for me. I plan on establishing a no-kill animal shelter/rehabilitation center [to help overly aggressive/shy/nervous dogs]/retirement center [for dogs in their very last stages of life] when I get older. Kind of like a place for a dog to come when they have run out of options.

But for a personal pet, I would prefer to get a puppy.

Desta/Bellawood is a good kennel, but you have quite a few good breeders much closer to home.
