Thanks Scuba Bob, your right it does seem that there are WAY more Dobies in USA shelters. I think it is because the pups do not have to be identified by tattoo or micro-chips BEFORE they leave their breeders home. Therefore it is almost impossible to trace owners and breeders when a dog is lost or just dropped off at a shelter.
Good luck in your search for a Dober girl.

I second Kim but doubt she has anything at the moment she just had a litter, that's where I got my boy and he is fantastic, but she is incredibly nice and will bend over backwards to help!

Scuba keep looking! I urge you to keep searching for a rescue. I know there are more Dobies in shelter here in the US, than in Canada. The right girl is out there. I have owned 7 rescued dobies in my lifetime and the 5 that have past all did so at the age of 10 or older. No major health issues. What other concerns do you have? The Rescued Dobies I have owned have been amazing, so loyal and so giving. It's almost as if they understand what you have done for them. I guess having adopted my two and working with Doberman Pinscher SOS here in California I am bit biased. There are so many terrific dogs that need forever homes. And again if you're not breeding, showing or participating in some sport IMHO there is no need to go to a breeder.

Blitzkrieger

Deana Anslow has some great working lines in her pedigree. The down side would be some of the breeding stock is not proven on the trial or even a training field. I believe this to be an important step in the breeding of working dogs especially. It takes having pressure on the dogs to really know what you are dealing with. If you are looking for just a pet home and don't plan to work them this is probably not the kennel for you. Another upside to Blitzkrieger is that there appears to be some longevity in the dogs.

I have no personal experience with this breeder but often see her recommended by people in the sport. Going by her website and hearsay alone, it seems to me that she is super interested in preserving working ability and correct breed temperament in the breed. Though I agree that titling is preferred, as it is veryfiable proof that a dog has been tested, I wouldn't scratch her of my list of working dog breeders.

From her breeding page:
"There are many ways to test working character. There are many forms of personal protection work/testing (including suit, hidden sleeve, muzzle work and subjecting the dog to various challenges) that provide more demanding testing that is not repetitive and therefore, can be more revealing.
Although I no longer work my dobermann in schutzhund, I DO test and work them (including bitework - personal protection)"

If strong character & workability are important to the OP, I suggest he contact Deana and question her further.
